I have a 3D M*g with Malkoff that runs really well on 4C also.

Now I saw the runtime chart for Malkoffs, and 4D looks really appealing to me.

I also want the flexibility of using C cells in it.

Has anyone run 5xC in 4D M*g?

It looks like length wise, it's an almost perfect fit:

4xD cells = 246.0mm
5xC cells = 250mm

Or 4mm difference, hardly noticeable?

Gene,

Well, that would be this one:

Drop-In Module for 4-5-6 D-Cell to fit Mag-Lite

This one is tempting also but I don't think I will get full power, and reduce runtime? Please advise on this one. I understand it needs 6 Alkaline cells but I am looking at 4D or 5C, or 6V to 7.2V more than likely on NiMH cells and also want the flexibility of using Alkaline cells if I have to.

D Size P7 Drop-in to fit Mag-Lite

It will fit fine, but why not just run 4xD cells? I don't see how a 25% increase in voltage will be worth the 50+% drop in capacity.

The issue is that I have a lot of C cells that I would like to use if I run out of D cells. Plus the light is lighter. It seems like a great combination.

I am not considering P7 for now... Just the older 4-6D drop-in module.

sounds like a great way to burn up some c cells. c cells are all you can find in a power outage anyways. other than that, i hate c cells with a passion. that is, until fenix comes out with a 2c, small head, pocket light. then im in!

Thanks for advice.

I know 3D running on 4xC cells works nicely, but 4D on 5xC cells should be even better.

I came to this conclusion after scanning the Malkoff run-time charts, 2D vs. 3D vs 4D and so on... 6D looked *very* impressive but it's not practical.
