Any way to use rechargeables on my Surefire M6 (MN21)?

Lots of thread about RCR123's, but I haven't seen anything for the M6. I'm running through sets of 6 like they're going out of style!!

Thanks!

The great thing about CPF is that a question like this is bound to have been asked heaps of times before, so there are heaps of answers!

I'd recommend the HOM6R as a good balance between runtime and brightness. It works well for me... but there are so many options, it's hard to keep up. With AW's soft start tailcap too, you can reduce the chance of instaflashing your bulb.

I am running a EO-M3T and the mdocod 2x18650 adapters (two of them, for swapping). It's not as bright as my ROP, but its a lot more practical :)

You should be able to run the mn21 with your 2x18650 setup assuming that you are using good cells such as AW's new protected 2600 Mah cells. That should be pretty bright and will be overdriving the bulb somewhat since there will be less voltage sag then the stock setup (which means reduced bulb life and risk of :poof:. Additionally since the mn21 draws 5 amps it will drain the cells pretty quickly and it is near the 2c (amp/cell capacity) rule of thumb limit. It will be pretty tough on the cells. Also don't use IMRs with the mn21 as there have been reports of consistent :poof:.

Other 2x18650 options would be the Welch Allyn 01111, Philips 5761 and various others using the FiveMega G4 bi-pin adapter or the LF IMR-M3T. Lux Luthor's bulb testing thread is a good resource to read regarding the output and amperage draw of various bi-pin bulbs. Look for good output in the 7.0-7.4 volt range: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=179748

I am running AW's older 2200mah 18850s. I chose the EO-M3T because it is cheaper than the MN21, and although I respect and own a few of FM's quality products, $50 for the MN bi-pin tower is frankly ridiculous for how much I'm actually going to use my M6. The EO-M3T should last just about forever at 7.4v and its still PrettyDamnBright(TM).
