Can't get out of the desert! ARGH!
Hey folks, I am a fairly new sculptor in ceramics and am really interested in making my own ceramic bulb holders. The stuff I'm working with is fired at almost 2400F so I'm thinking that it would work well. I just am not sure where to start but I'd like to make some ceramic bulb holders for the mag-lite and mini-mag. Any suggestions? And what should I use for the metal/conducting parts? Would anyone be interested in some ceramic discs sized appropriately and pierced in the correct places? I don't want to step on anyone's toes, so if that'd be the case I'd still want to make some for myself, but I don't see how it'd be violating anyone's "patents" since it's such a simple part (from what I can see). ANY suggestions are appreciated!

Nomad,

The last person that made ceramic bulb holders and was selling them has not made another run, and the community desperately needs them. Maybe someone can take some up-close pictures of one that the previous maker made? (I'm talking about for the minimag), whereas there are still the big-mag holders being made and sold-

Nomad, I will second the need for mini mag bulb holders. Hopefully someone who has one will chime in with dimensions.I do know that they use a metal liner for both of the holes, one has a tab on top that extends to the edge of the disc for a negative contact. The bottom of the other liner uses a solder blob for positive contact. Both would need to be the right ID for the bi pin bulb. Hope that helps, let us know if you are successfull

Auroralite was making them, but they seem to be unavailable. Pix are Here
Put together the metal reflector and the glass lens and you have a winner. MY ears are up!

What other bulbs will fit into the minimag that will get it into the >1 candlepower range? Something in the 7.4v range for use with 14500s??? Just a simple bipin replacement?

Same here as I am too in need of the ceramic reflector for my mini-mag and Lighthound won't have them in stock till March :( Good Luck
