Yesterday, it came in. After paying atound $30,- import duties, it was mine...

First impression:

This light is smaller than expected. Intuitively, I expected something the size of a Surefire U2, it is nearly an inch shorter however. It has a deep, smooth reflector, so I expect some throw. It has a good clicky switch, and the pocket clip can be clipped onto thicker materials without problems. For all people asking for pictures: unfortunately, I still don't know how to post them here...

What's included:

The light comes in a "zip-bag" style plastic bag. Included is:
- the light itself,
- a belt-holster,
- two CR123A batteries, made in China, "energy dense flashlight food"
- an easily detachable lanyard(!),
- two spare O rings,
- a rubber hand grip,
- an "operator's manual"

The Manual:

This is more a "comparison chart" than a manual. For example, the way the light should be programmed is not in this manual!
Here, some serious rework is needed in my opinion.

The light!

High expectations here, regarding the color of the light this one should have... and YES! This is the color every incan-fan has been waiting for! Finally, at least one manufacturer stopped the "Lumen-race" to trade some lumens for color
Once you bought one of these, there's no way back to those stone-cold high-Kelvin blueish LED-lights... this is even MUCH better than "neutral white" (which was still unacceptable for me). Anyone looking for the incan-tint in a LED light can stop looking now. You found it in this series of limited edition(!) flashlights...
What could be seen instantly, the deep, polished reflector, works very well indeed. Despite "moderate" output of "just" 165 OTF-lumens, this one has some serious throw. This all was expected somehow, but... there's more! It even has some very usable spill too. And THAT is quite exceptional for these throwers. I have seen more of these, and they all had a dim spill. Not so in this one.

Run times on 2X AW black protected 16340:

I immediately measured current draw at the tailcap to estimate run times:

"moon": 2.06mA
low: 6.0mA
medium: 27,5mA
high: 106mA
max: 432mA

"moon": > 275 hours
low: 100 hours
medium: > 20 hours
high: > 5 hours
max: > 80 minutes

Remarkably close are the current draws on "moon" and low. I measured it three times, each time the same result.
This light makes a great emergency light. Even on "low" the light is very usable, and will continue to shine for 100 hours!! Incredible!

The UI:

Indeed, as some people already stated, the UI is quite simple: you can program any of the seven modes available to one of the two possibilities: head "tight" or head "loose".
Just quickly turn the head 4 times and it is in program mode, it signals so by a number of quick, bright flashes. Now, you have 10 seconds time to determine (by switching the light off/on) if this level suits you. If no, click on, if yes, leave it on for 10 seconds. After this time, the light flashes bright again, and one mode has been programmed.
How to determine WHAT mode (tight or loose) is to be programmed? Simple. End the quick-twisting with the mode you want to program, either loosen the head or tighten it.

Conclusion:

1. This is one very usable light. Color is, finally, OK even for incan-fans.
2. Brightness and runtimes are very well chosen between five levels.
3. It makes a perfect emergency light, due to the long run times possible.
4. All lovers of relatively small throwers, are very well served.
5. Relatively simple UI can be understood by anyone (even by me )
6. last but not least: it is Li-ion compatible!!

Last words:

Buy one while it's available!! Once they're gone... they're gone :mecry:
This is the very best "incan imitation" I've seen until now

325addict thank you for review! Saw you have ampermeter, did you have a luxmeter ? Can you measure 1m lux on turbo ? I can't decide is it worth for throw or not. Second question: is your turbo preflash'y ?
Preflash is a quark almost tac "feature" when you turn it on for moonlight-medium there is camera-like :poof:, pause and then there will be desired light level.

Unfortunately, I have no lux meter.

And yes, you described that "feature" over which I also wondered very well: it HAS that "pre-flashy" property. Not on high or max, but I noticed it on the lower modes indeed.

With regards to the throw of this little monster: trust me, there is some serious throw in this one
You will not be disappointed I think.

I cannot recommend it enough to all incan-fans looking for a somehow "acceptable" LED-flashlight with regards to the color of the light. This one is as good as it gets. 4sevens did a marvelous job here. It's a pity, this is a limited series. Now I've seen how good they are, I'll be ordering two more I think...

What?! "Preflash?" In low? What's the point of low low if you blow your night vision?

I have to agree, Mine also arrived yesterday and I had a chance to use it last night. The throw of the Turbo compliments the more floody beam of the 123-2 WW perfectly. Still wish that the UI offered a little more immediate flexibility, but I can always carry another light for that.

The 123 squared and the Turbo have not yet replaced my E2DL and LX2 as my EDC, but the fact that I am considering it speaks volumes about these two lights.

Also used the 123-2 WW during an indoor SAR exercise on Sunday (Earthquake scenario with victims injured / trapped inside of powerless buildings). We were indoors using flashlights for about three hours and the 123-2 WW performed admirably against more expensive products.

Hi Timmo, thanks for sharing. Like you said, I share the exact sentiments regarding the warm white turbo to be a good alternative to die-hard incand fans out there. I love the color of the warm white turbo as I intent to use it for my outdoor activities. It really shines in nature.

Good to see that the tint is nice, even for a discerning incan-fan such as yourself Timmo! I'm eagerly awaiting the postman with my Preon 2 WW, and I'm considering laying down some money for the 123^2 turbo WW and a NW AA^2.

How does the lower lumen count affect the throw? If someone who has both the cool and warm versions could help here, I'm wondering if its worth suffering a bit of cool light to get that extra 27% brightness...

It is not just 27% loss in lumens, beam profile affected too: warms are more floody compared to cool one. When R5 turbo has 8120 lux on 1m, warm should be on 6250 lux level, but due to different light distribution between WW and WC result may vary.
I'm trying to reach 123^2 turbo ww owners with luxmeter, but no luck.

Thanks for the nice review, 325.

I've been thinking about the warm 2 x 123 tactical (non turbo version) as I have Preon 2 warm, and do like the tint. But I also have an earlier 1 x 123 neutral, and I still think I might go for the upcoming neutral XP-G 2 x 123 tactical instead. Though it is a tough choice, I find the warms a bit too "brownish," though they still beat the cool whites.

Please don't make a big deal about the pre-flash, it's been well documented and for most, it's preferable over PWM. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, just use the search (that's what it's for).

Nice review 395. We both need to learn to post pics. :) Mine has the preflash but it's so quick, it's not a problem, just noticeable. As I don't care for pocket clips I took mine off and filled the slot with an 5mm trit, great for finding your light in a dark tent, and a flat turbo tail cap. I love the warm tint outdoors, not harsh like the cools, and the throw/flood is great for camping. It's true, when they are gone they're gone, but at least I have mine.
