Re: MJLED Chapter II - All Orders Packed!

Ok, just got my MJLEDs /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Heres a few readings etc.

14500= 185mA - 170 Lux
2 AA Lithiums= 118mA - 138 Lux
2 AA nimhs= 20mA - 7 Lux

Obviously, I think nimhs are pretty much useless with it.
Litiums are quite respectable though, very bright and fairly focusable for a 5mm led.
14500 cell... WOW thats nice /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif .... and I bet I should stop that. LOL
I ran it for about 10 seconds like that. Im betting that will kill it though.

What is the max mA these can handle?

Re: MJLED Chapter II - All Orders Packed!

Does it have single or multiple die? Maximum current?

Anyone compared it to 26000mcd LED?

Re: MJLED Chapter II - All Orders Packed!

Does anyone have a spec sheet on the MJLED? I was wondering what the max rated current is. I'd like to run it off a current regulator, but I don't know what to set the current at.

?

I may be missing REALLY REALLY obvious here, and probably am, but do jtice readings seem a bit low?

In Lambda first post in this thread he's getting 400lux with fresh alkaline cells and 280lux after 10 hours of use on lithiums.

I don't have very much flashlight/led knowledge, so like i said, i'm probably missing the obvious.

Re: ?

Face,

Well, for one, you really cant compare different ppls Lux reading, different meters, different environments etc.
And I was useing a NX05 optic /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Ill try to take some more readings tonight with a reflector.

Havnt tried alkalines yet, I will tonight.

Still no word on what mA these can take?

Re: ?

Oh, right, I see!

I don't have very much knowledge on this subject - i'm very much a newbie - I just thought one lux equalled another lux, kind of like 1lb on one set of scales equals 1lb on another set of scales, regardless of who was standing on them.

Still seems quite a difference, tho (over double) so it will be interesting to see what your next set of measurements are.

I can't wait for mine to arrrive, but lambda is still waiting for the AAA reflectors /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Thank you for your advice,

Re: ?

jtice: MJLED Specifications from Lambdas website:

100mA maximum input current
3.0 to 3.6 V optimal operating range
Precision ground and polished custom optic
Reverse polarity protected

Face: Lux-measurements depends on how tight the beam is focused. Lambda adjusted his reflectors and placed his sensor optimal. NX05 optic are designed for narrow beam Luxeon leds instead of side-emitting MJLED.

Re: ?

I will be happy if the total light output of the MJLED equals or exceeds my Opalec.

I will be positively THRILLED if it equals or exceeds my UK4AALED.

These two are my most used lights, and if the MJLED is equal to them, I have just found a VERY affordable upgrade for all of my families' old minimags!

Hopefully, mine will arrive today...

Wow... there is just so much to learn. Still, if was easy, it wouldn't be fun. or would it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thank you,
