Most powerful light around 5.5 in?

Surefire 6P bored to fit a 18650 with a Nailbender SST-90 top bin direct drive SMO reflector running off an IMR 18650 battery.

You should know however that your runtime will be ridiculously short, maybe only a couple of minutes before it gets too hot and you have to turn it off.

But then again, you did ask for the most powerful light.

You could also try doing this:

But I doubt you could use it :p

Yes I did say most powerful..lol...I meant something that is some what practical.

Well, "practical" and "powerful" contradict each other, at least in the size of the light you're talking about. The more lumens you get, the more heat you get, and that limits the runtimes.

I personally use a Surefire 6P host bored to fit 18650 cells and a Nailbender SST-50 drop-in with a smooth reflector. It gets noticeably hot around 5 minutes, and to be safe I never keep it on longer, though Nailbender tells me 10 minutes would be the time I should turn it off. It gets me at least 450 lumens OTF with a pretty big hotspot and plenty of spill.

I would also STRONGLY recommend that you try Elektrolumen's DeCree XP-G. It uses a 5.5 degree collimating lens to focus the beam instead of a reflector. Runtime is estimated at 2 hours on an AW 18650 2600mAh battery. It's a single level light and I believe it gets 300+ lumens OTF. I personally prefer this over my Malkoff M60 drop-in mostly because it's brighter and because the beam just looks a lot nicer than my SST-50. It doesn't seem to heat up too much(didn't run it longer than 30 seconds though), though I'm not sure what the heatsinking is like. But for the sale price(limited time only) of just $60, I'd say it's worth every penny. It's only driven at 1.1A so you could potentially get more lumens out of it if you ask Wayne to drive it at 1.5A. But for all intents and purposes, I'd call it a "practical" light.
