Hi,
I don't wanna spend more than 30-40. I need alot of power, size isn't an issue and cr123a's would be nice and atleast 30 mins runtime? I need as much power as you can get me :p Thanks,
Edit: I would prefer LED also.

deal extreme is probably going to be the place for you to go. other than that maybe an inova t1 with 80 lumens or a mag led? what are you going to use the light for? maybe then a better suggestion could be given.

I'm gonna use it to scare off a bunch of middle school aged boys that have been prowling around my house. I need something bright enough to make them run and not come back.

Well, in that case, I doubt a Fenix will do it (or any other similar light, I have nothing against Fenix), unless those kids will run simply because someone is shining a light on them. But if that doesn't scare them, it won't matter whether it's 50 or 100 lumens.

I think you might be better off with one of those rechargeable million-cp lights that use lead-acid batteries and automotive bulbs. They aren't much good, really, but they are fairly cheap and after you have charged one up, it will be pretty bright for a minute or two.

If you need it for that, I'd recommend going HID. You could get an inexpensive one like the one from Sam's Club (Vector Power-On-Board). It'll be tough finding one for less than $40, but I think it'd be worth the effort. Some stores were selling them for $20-25 at one point, so it is possible.

A Fenix is the best light for overall,

for Your special use, get that ceramic socket, supplemental bulb + special reflector for a Minimag + two 14500 Li-Ions.
THAT will kick azz
(for absolutley no useful runtime).

think lighthound has all the parts

I agree with you on the Fenix, but not about the Auroralite. It's a great setup, but building it would cost at least $50-60, if not more. Also, the runtime is a solid half-hour. Many other lights have similar or shorter runtimes.

I have one of the 3 stage Vector million CP lights. Lowes, Target, Black & Decker...same. Around $20. ON high it does a great job for what you want.

Tigerhawk, I am not completely sure what You mean

but for that special use, when Stephen comes with his MM,
I would (if I were one of the Teenies) think: what a Geek!
Now imagine Stephen even comes with a "gay" colored MINIMAG (hot pink or so) - and then fires it up
(result will beat any other light possible, because of that small, known, generic housing)

the socket, reflector and bulb cost a 24,-- at lighthound ("hotwire kits")
the 14500s and a Li-Ion multicharger from DX som 20,-- (?)
Minimag: 10-15 (?) at Your place

Even me, as the led guy, could imagine extreme speachlessness

Ah yes, the "sleeper" effect. Very true! :)

Maybe I should just sock one, I have been looking to try out this new jab - right hook move i've been practicing for boxing on someone. :grin2:
