O.K....I'm off to the sand-box in 3 days...I just got the Dorcy 1watt/1 x CR123 (rated 45 lumens). I wanted to get the Browning Tactical Hunter (50 lumens/1 x CR123), but after using my Dorcy, and reading 1 bad review of the Browning Tactical Hunter, I'm considering just sticking to my Dorcy as my only 1 x CR123 light. The one-by 123's are maily to use after the juice run's out of my G2/G3. Please, help convince me otherwise...anybody own one of the Browning Tactical Hunter's that can tell me they are indeed decent lights, or that they're total crap? Thanks for the help!!!

I don't know about the Tactical Hunter, but I know someone who owns a Browning $20.00 AA light (don't recall the name) and he doesn't like it.

Three days isn't much time, so I'd just stick with the Dorcy if it's working OK for you. Otherwise, there are lots of recommendations for 1 x 123's depending on your budget and needs. Really wish you had a Surefire E1B to take with you.

Best of luck to you in the "sand box."

How much do you want to pay and what are you looking for?

3 days is a short time, but some online sites have overnight shipping.

Many would say the Novatac 120P(or Tactical version) is one of the best 1 CR123 powered light. It can take a lot of beating, has a true 120 lumen out the front, and the P version is programmable. The cheepest I've seen it is $120. Many would also say the RA twistie is also great, but I don't think you're looking for a twistie light.

I wanted the E1L, so I stopped at a nearby gunshop, the only place in miles that carries surefires, but I was looking for ANY 1 x CR123...and they had the L1...it's everytthnig a surefire should be...but the body design and small diameter threw me off...which is why I got the dorcy at Target 30 minutes later. So, since I don't have my E1L, will the Tactical Hunter compliment my deployment light list, or should I save the $50 towards the purchase of my E1L??? Thanks for the help! So far, the Browning is down by 2.

would the shop offer a discount if you got the older E1L?

ver 1- 1 level brightness, squarish spot, optics
ver 2- 1 level brightness, bright hotspot w/ wide spill, reflector
ver 3- 2 level brightness, bright hotspot w/ wide spill, reflector

how about E1B? i also remembered Gladius having a 1XCR123 model.

whatz a sandbox? :candle:

Hi, I think "sandbox" in this case refers to Iraq (troop deployment).

Best of luck to the OP and stay safe!

thanks for answering my question.

i would like to think the flashlight will still be useful even after the deployment. my lights gets used as dimmers on warm summer evenings as a way to cut electrical heat from wall or ceiling mounted lights at home.
