Since I first laid eyes on a SF catalogue, I have always thought the G2Z was just a cool light. I really like nitrolon, it is so durable, hardly seems to show wear, much more friendly to bare skin in winter months, and has thermal properties that are very desirable under certain circumstances. If you prefer to hold your lights in the "cigar grip" as I usually do, then you probably usually find "E" series lights the most comfortable between your fingers. However, the Z series (if you remove the grip rings) is almost the same diameter as an E series light but with D26 options, rear loading tailcap, nitrolon, etc. So with a Novatac clip and the thin diameter of this light, I find it very comfortable in the hand year round. It rides in the pocket bezel down (which I prefer) and has no rough knurling to wear out the pockets. Like the M series lights, it has a ring around the bezel that that is perfect for adhering a couple of tritium vials. Mine is currently sporting two on either side. Unlike the G2, the G2Z has a hex bezel and a pyrex lens, two things that make it infinitely superior in my book. It has a myriad of options for lamps, drop-ins, and battery combinations. But a couple of custom parts have really made this light a recent favorite.

One of my favorite lamps is the 3.7v Strion lamp, but it has a relatively short life (5-10 hours). However, coupled with AW's softstart, I have yet to burn out a lamp and I have 30-40 hours so far! The other advantage is extended runtime with the lower levels. Excellent package. $6 bulbs with $6 unprotected 17670's. Hours of top quality incandescent goodness that only a flashaholic can appreciate!
