I am soooooooooo excited -- after looking around, and reading a lot of stuff, and browsing through the endless configurations that Peak offers (an example where too much flexibility can be confusing), I finally ordered my first Peak -- a 3-LED brass Matterhorn. I am also glad that Peak ship internationally.

I was thinking of buying the Arc-AAA, and came across Peak -- the shiny brass just captivated my imagination (all light I have till now are HA-III anodized aluminium). There were also a few quality complaints against the new Arc in the Arc forums, so did not want to take a chance with int'l shipping. Arc is also a great light, but for my purpose I found Peak to be more reliable...

It was a lot of effort figuring out the lumen output (that I am accustomed to), and the candlepower that Peak mentions. Finally I figured out that the UP version of 3-LED should be decently powerful to be on my keychain. But I learned a lot too -- after school I had hardly gone back to candlepower and light topics in general.

Now eagerly waiting it to arrive here in India which can take a long time (~3 weeks). Will update the post later with pictures. Thank you all.

Amarendra,

Congratulations on your Peak Matty. They are classic pocket lights, and the brass is unique and beautiful.

The 3 LED UP will put out a decent amount of light, but will go through a cell pretty fast, so you might like an eneloop or other good quality rechargeable cell for it.

Hope your Peak gets there soon, and that you enjoy it!

welcome- the brass have a nice "heft" (weighty feel) to them and super smooth threads..IMO you made a great choice- let us know how your like it.

Good Choice! A brass 3 led Matterhorn was the first Peak to grace my keychain and served me very well... until my wife demanded that I hand it over to her. Polish it and you'll really be hooked.

Congrats choombak. After seeing the brass in person for a second time now, I see a brass Peak in my future for sure. The brass Peak's are just good looking lights.

The Matterhorn is finally here after a long wait and delay. I tried pinging Peak folks for the tracking, but got no response, so thought I might lose it. It arrived yesterday, and is very beautiful. The amount of light is just right for my daily usage.

Some good things that I liked so far:
(a) the knurling is fairly aggressive, and the bevels on the head make it very easy for single-handed operation
(b) it puts a very decent amount of light (ultra power version this is)
(c) it looks really amazing, and has a "heavy" feel to it.

Interim, I also received a HAIII 1-LED matterhorn, and a brass Eiger from a fellow forum'ite, and I simply loved the warm tint of the Eiger. Awesome.

With all the flashlights I have handled, Peak tops the list with the amount of attention paid to individual light. No wonder why Robyn and co. have less time to respond to queries -- I had a concern about their A.S.S. (after sales service), but I think their product more than compensates for this.

In the recent days, I have found smaller, AAA flashlights find more use, than larger tactical ones (for eg. EagleTac P10A that I have too).

Will put up pictures soon. Thanks all, and hope to be around this forum going forward.

It is hard to describe the "feel" of the Brass, the lovely smell, the buttery smooth threads.
Oh yeah....and what's the best flashlight? The one you have with you...the matterhorn is small enough that it can be in your pocket all the time. What type of battery are you using in your PEAKS? Alkaline primaries, NiMH rechargables, LiIon or other?

Alkalines and NiMH rechargables.

Congrats on your first Peak brass light,

My 2004 vintage Killamanjaro (single AA) with 5 LEDs in brass is still kicking butt after 5.5 years of use. It is our "head board light" in that we use it to look for things in the bedroom at night. Easy to notice the heft when you pick it up, the smoooooth threads when switching it on and the floody beam all make it a keeper.

Enjoy!

I quite agree, and this is the beauty of a brass Peak. More powerful and technically sophisticated (and complicated) lights are introduced almost daily, but a brass Peak never goes out of style. :)

Do you find the tint to be warmer than other neutral tints, for instance a Q3 5A?

My automatic response would have been "yes", but I visually confirmed with a Quark mini AA (CPF custom run, that has Q3 5A), and yes, the tint is definitely warmer. While the Q3 5A has a pinkish-yellow tint, the one on Peak is golden-yellow - something that I was attracted immediately when I powered it on.

So, to summarize,
(a) Q3 5A => pinkish-yellow (so there is a white shade there too)
(b) Peak eiger neutral => golden-yellow (my choice)

Ignorant me, but what's the LED used in this Peak?

Luxeon Rebel 100.

defloyd is correct- Eiger uses a 100 bin Rebel- the New Mag lights use a 090 bin Rebel- even tho 091 is stamped on the LE. According to all the research I have seen- there is no such creature as a 091 Rebel.
Have you shown it to any of your friends- if so, what kind of reaction did they have to it?

I have some data on "showing it to friends" - most of them were interested in the Brass body, than the flashlight itself. No one had ever seen such a nice looking shiny thing, which also "doubles" up as a flashlight. ;-)

I personally feel the brass body look amazing/beautiful/gorgeous/<insert your adjective here>. It also gives a distinct "custom"/made-for-you look to the flashlight. Surprisingly, within a short time I now have the 3-LED Matterhorn in Brass and Aluminium, and an Eiger in Brass. Whenever I have the urge to buy a flashlight, somehow I think of getting a Peak and not some other brand. Peaks *are* a class apart.

I love the precision with which the words "Peak LED Solutions" have been etched on the HA-III body. No other flashlight comes close to that, and I have NiteCore, 4Sevens, JetBeam and EagleTac amongst the Peaks'.
