I've just messed up a driver :poof: - not quite sure how!

I'm desperate to find a driver that will power a P7 properly off 2 x C LiIon cells. Ideally a multi-level driver, that will allow me to use it a decent amount of time before getting too hot and turning to low mode.

I've found this one from DX - if anyone has used it, I would extremely grateful for some feedback.

Or if anyone knows of another driver that would work well - please let me know.

Cheers...

Not multi level but it is the better quality than anything offered by the Chinese vendors.
As far as "too hot" I can run my 3 Nimh Mag C at 2.8 Amps for as long as necessary, after about 15 minutes it maintains the same temperature. No problem running it until the batteries start to drop.

DX just posted those drivers last week and apparently are either sold out or they're simply not available from their supplier yet with an ETA of sometime later this week. So far, there hasn't been any really good P7/MC-E drivers from the Chinese vendors. I myself put in an order for a few of the new DX P7/MC-E drivers just to try them out. I figure at $4-$5 each, it's worth experimenting with. I'm hoping that these new ones that DX is selling turn out to be decent. Up until now, they haven't had any P7/MC-E drivers and there maybe a good reason for that. KD has had 2 multi-mode buck drivers available for a while now, but they have overheating issues. Before that, KD was offering a P7/MC-E "driver" built on the AMC7135 chips and has a 6V input limit.

TaskLED has their new hipCC P7/MC-E driver, and they've always put out high quality stuff. You could also get a Shark Buck driver from The Sandwich Shoppe. Both of these are expensive compared to DX and KD's offering, but their quality and realiability are better. After all, you get what you pay for...
