I am giving some thought to a bigger light and I am considering either the Pelican 8060 or the 5.11 LFL UC3.400. I suppose it is a bit earlier to know much about either on yet. I have a Pelican 7060 now and it sounds like the 8060 isn't that much brighter. The 5.11 lists 270 lumens, but the technology really isn't proven yet in my mind.

The advantage of the 8060 lies in its runtime at or near its maximum output for approximately 6 hours. Whilst it may be much slower to recharge than the 5.ll it is the way to go if you need the advantage of a long run time in a higher output LED light.

The 5.11 has the advantage of an exceptionally quick recharge at the disadvantage of a limited runtime of approximately 15 minutes for 270 lumens or 1 hour for 90 lumens (manufacturers figures). For me the 8060 is undoubtedly a great buy. However the 'potential cost savings for the 5.11 over its lifetime by eliminating batteries make it a great investment for a walking the dog light. I suspect that I would go for the 8060 (except its not for sale in the UK) given the choice.
