I know a number of you like the 5761 as a Magcharger direct lamp swap and that this lamp is also very impressive on a 7.2v overdrive.

Does anyone have any idea whether one of Kaidomains 5000mah 32600 Li-Ion battery packs would work with this lamp - or would I be too close to instaflash territory :poof:

You would need some kind of soft starter or other device just to fire up a 5761 and find out if it instaflashes. As the 5000maH pack overcurrent protection stands now, it won't even fire up the ROP HI bulb on a single click.
See this thread.

pair of A123 systems nano phosphate cells. ~3.2V per cell, minimal instaflash problems on the 5761 with no special driver circuitry or softstart required. Safe chemistry, tolerant to abuse, can handle some overcharge/over-discharge without much trouble. decent capacity, 2 fit in a 3C mag nicely, or I think with a tailcap mod a 2D.

Would A123 cells charge on a WF-139 or Pila charger?

sortof, ideally speaking you would want to use a LiFeP04 charger or a bench power supply with adjustable outputs.
