Question for Surefire C2 owners and/or Surefire guru's..

I just got a Surefire C2 Centurion. I removed the head and replaced the lamp with a different one. After screwing the head back into place I noticed the flat surfaces made into the head (the anti roll hexagon surfaces made into the sides of the bezel) dont line up with the clip. As in, if viewing the light head on (shining it in your face) the flat surface below the clip would not be parallel with the clip.

I was just wondering from those who owned C2's whether their lights lined up. I can loosen the head up a bit and line it up but I prefer the head to be tight. I don't care if it is lined up or not really. If it is made that way that is fine with me. I just want to make sure the light is back together correctly and I didn't mis-thread it or the bulb doesn't fit correctly or something. I know I am probably being paranoid.. :)

Thanks

I understand what he means.

I own a C2.

If it's not lining up with the clip, but it's tight when you're done screwing it down, then no worries. :)

I don't really understand, cant picture the problem. Pics would help.

I know my explanation is probably not the best. Sorry. Imagine if you hung the light by the clip on a wall. While hanging from the wall the portion of the flat anti roll section of the head that is against the wall is not flat against the wall.

Or, another explanation: If you placed a level across the flat part of the clip (think so that you could read the level when looking at the light head on), and then you placed a level on the flat anti roll part of the head directly under the clip (also so you could read the level when looking at the light head on) then the two surfaces could not be level at the same time.

Thanks for your help, lightguy27.

Monocrom and Tempest UK,

Thanks for the reponses. I figured that it was probably ok. The head appears to be flush and tight with the body when it stops turning, and it doesn't feel as if the threads are crossthreaded. (In fact the HA is still on the threads).

I've never seen a C2 or M2 where the flats on the head lined up with the clip. I don't think this is in the design/manufacturing intent.

However I have scratched part of the head where it can meet the pocket clip when you screw the head down. You can solve this by holding the clip down with a thumb while you screw the head on and off. (But even if you scratch it, it's a tiny scratch.)

My new E2E is like that, but the head is tightened down all the way, so I figured it was not a problem.

I've had one or two that lined up, but most don't. Its just luck. Either way, its not a problem.

Mine didn't line up either...I solved it by changing to a KL5 and SW02...makes for a great looking light.
