I've been struggling with making proper square nuts to run in uni-strut to make an adjustable motor mount that I could mount to my lathes G-11 base.

I need 8 .3125" thick ~1.25" x 1.75" pieces cut out of mild steel.

In the center of the pieces there needs to be a hole for threading either an I bit or a 9/32 bit would suffice. I can tap myself.

4 of them will need a roughly .125" x .375" (depth x width) groove milled in the bottom along the 1.75" length through the center to accommodate passing over a button head screw in the bottom of the strut.

I had a 10 HP motor hooked to strut with the normal nuts. I used an intervening plate so the motor would sit flat

Yeah I have some 9x9" .25" 6061-T651 aluminum plate that the motor is mounting to then 4 5/6-24 bolts will go through holes in the plate to these square nuts which run in the strut to clamp the motor in place.

Hey choffman, I have one amazing reason why those wouldn't work... I never new they even made them. That is exactly what I need and at a good price. I'll go pick some up and proper hardware for it. Thanks a ton.

grab a unistrut catalog online, they make about a billion strut "things" all the way from radius pieces to make conveyors to doors. It is ridiculous the amount of stuff you can get
