Seoul star isolation

I picked up a few Seoul from DX and wondering if I have to be concerned with the installation of the Seoul stars. Won't the star isolate the positive slug or am I mistaken. I was planning on using the thermal material that I normally use on PC cpu heatsinks if the electrical issues are ok.

thanks.

The Seoul stars from Photonfanatic isolate the pos slug, but are not the same as the DX ones. I would think they would act the same, but don't hold me to it.

You can test it with a DMM or 3V batterie:)

Just a suggestion:
Maybe your comment would be more helpful if you explained how. Some modder don't have a lot of experience or electronics knowledge :).

I just received some today. I verified they are isolated

Got mine yesterday from DX.

Isolated, but the slug is not well soldered to the star. I can see a gap under a portion of the slug and the star.

The slug is not soldered down - I can press on the emitter and close the gap.

Was this a 'one off' situation?
The last thing one needs is an emitter that is not correctly attached to its star.
Do you know who was responsible ?

chimo,

I did not have the same problem with 5 stars received so far. Very good color and output.

I hope you resolve your defect. :)

I purchased 2 stars. They both have the same "problem".

Nothing I can't fix, but I'm glad I noticed it before I decide to drive these hard.

They must be using thermal paste instead of epoxy (or solder) for the slug.
