Is there an led emitter that has a lumen rating somewhere between a Q5 225 lumen, and a P7 900 lumen? I dont want to do multiple emitters or run P7 at lower power, I am just wandering if there is an emitter that produces between 3-700 lumen at full power?

Why not drive an SSC P7 or the upcoming Cree MC-E at half power?

Either one would be very bright at that level,~420lm,and very efficient.Running them at max spec the lowers the efficiency, but its still much higher than a single die at max spec.

SSC P7 or MC-E would be around 420lm at 4.5w,for 93lm/w at half current

SSC U2 or Cree R2 would be around 280lm at 3.7w,for 76 lm/w.

The are other factors to consider, but you only mentioned luminous flux.Either one of those packages would put you squarely within your quoted lumen range with high efficiency to boot.

Thanks,
Michael

short answer: R2

long answer: R2 bin LED is, IIRC, the next step up fr/Q5 that is somewhat available to the general public, but the question to ask is if it is cost effective vs. Q5 for the relatively small gains in light generating efficiency.
