I apologize for posting yet another thread on this, but being pretty new to flashlights (and in particular batteries), I'm having some troubles understanding what type/configuration I need to get. I've been researching this for a few weeks now, but still have a couple of questions.

I already have a 4D mag, with UCL lens, and I understand the reflectors are quite easy to get from sandwichshop. Would something like this be suitable:

I'm not sure what they mean by a ream hole, I'm assuming the standard size would be fine?

Next, onto the most confusing part- batteries. Most of the threads I have read talk about 2D mags, so I'm not sure what is suitable for a 4D mag?

I've read people talking about "Sub C's" but I have no idea what they are, or where to get them from. I'm not very good at soldering or doing handywork stuff, so I think I'd prefer to get a pack already made up that I can just drop right in. Does anyone have a good link of a place (that ships to Australia) where I might be able to get these from?

Many thanks

Jaycar electronics have a brand called powertech they make a 3300mah sub c with or without solder tabs, i have 12 and they are really good.
I think they do mail order but they have shops all round Aus.

Also battery junction looks really good. Huge variety and they say they ship to Aus at really good prices as well the aussie dolla is high so you get a good deal.www.batteryjunction.com

Have a good one:grin2:

Thanks for the reply.

So is it just a matter of getting 6 batteries, such as these

and then wrapping them in paper or PVC so they dont rattle around.

Or would I need to solder them together?

You need to solder them together so they are in series and find away of holding them beceause if they bend around the solder welds will come apart. If you can find heat shrink tubing large enough that would be great, i know jaycar and **** smith electronics sells it.
I havent made such large battery packs before only small ones out of AAA's and AA's for cordless phones and remote controll cars so im no expert but i hope this helps.
{edit}
Dont quote me on any of this i havent attempted a mag mod before so dont know much about it.

with ream hole they mean that you'll have a reflector with a custom hole diameter...you need to order a reflector with .32" hole becouse with .3" the ROP HIGH bulb won't fit...

if you want a very well made and reliable battery pack I'd suggest LuxLuthor service....
