Part A: What's new on this light?

The Control Ring is the most interesting feature of Spartanian2.
It could be drove by only one finger.

Turn it, All functions will appear.

Go Left, the light will be ON at the highest current until you loosen the finger.
Go Right, and keep for about 1 sec, the light is constantly ON.

Then,
Go left, the bright level down. or right to level up.

Too bright? Just go back.

Go Right, and keep it again, the light is OFF.
or Go Left, keep for 1.5 sec, the twinkle shows the voltage of battery. ~2.7: once; 2.7~3.3: twice; 3.3~3.6: 3; 3.6~3.8: 4; 3.8~4: 5; 4~: 6;

Part B:

Made of Alcoa 7075-T651 or Alcoa 6061-T6
HAIII, 50~60um. Gray or Green or Black.
CREE XR-E Q5 bin.
Foretech Driver Board for Spartanian2.
13 levels. (from 0.5mA to 700mA).
1*16340/RCR123A battery.
Fully Regulated.
Over-discharge and reverse protection.
SCHOTT B270 & Dual-coated Lens.

Em. This is the RC1 version,
it means, we still need to fix some bug before sending out review samples,
then others.
So... How much and where is it available

Re: Spartanian 2, RC1 version, released. [Photos & UI].

Some more information:

Size-
Length 8.6cm/3.4inch
Dia. 2.6~3.1cm/1~1.2inch

No tail switch.
One or Two finger could turn the control ring to left or right,
and it will go back to original place while you loosen the finger.
So, we could get 4 kinds of act on it:

Left ,
Left and keep,
Right,
Right and Keep.

With these 4 acts, this light has its multilevel and tactical functions.

Ah, now i understand the UI.

Intesting, very interesting...

Curious to see how durable the switch is. I'll line up to test this one!

Re: An UI never used before. Spartanian 2, RC1 version, released. [Photos added].

So the ring some sort of spring loaded and will pop back to center position?

Exactly right! That's the most important part in this light.

Hi Neo,

This looks original and well-conceived! I like the very low level at 0.5 ma. Some flat surfaces or knurling near the tail could be useful to keep the light from slipping (spinning) during the rotary operation.

I will keep an eye on this. Thank you!

WOW! Great to hear that you like the design. And thanks for your advice.
Yes. knurling will be added.
We will do our best to make it more and more reliable.

Clickie, Twisty, and this Ring, Do you think the ring will be better than the other?
Hope to hear your opinions.
If you have any question about the UI,
Please note it here. THX.

Re: An UI never used before. Spartanian 2, RC1 version, released. [Photos added].

Really nice. One problem I've thought of, though:

So, you go right and keep to turn it on, then go left to decrease the level. If you go left and keep, then you get the voltage warning, so that means you must go left multiple times- this may be a bit annoying to get to the lowest level.
Also, IMO, there are slightly too many battery levels- although it's easy enough to remember (more blinks is good), counting out 6 slow blinks could be annoying, but make it blink too fast and you could miss the number....

Apart from that, seems a really good UI. Can you do the ring with just a thumb?

==Yes. Not only getting down, but also getting up. Left+Keep=voltage, Right+Keep=OFF.
My personal way is: Setting default level at the 3rd or 4th lowest one.
That's 12mA or 50mA. When I need a bright ray, I always go Left directly to get tactical 700mA.

Also, IMO, there are slightly too many battery levels- although it's easy enough to remember (more blinks is good), counting out 6 slow blinks could be annoying, but make it blink too fast and you could miss the number....
==It's fast, but clear enough, we will try to publish a video about it.

==Yes, I always do so. And other finger around the waist. And two fingers to control the ring is also very natural.

Aha, custom default levels. This just got a whole lot better, and it was already really good ;)

I may just have to go into RCR's, what with this and the TK10....

Re: An UI never used before. Spartanian 2, RC1 version, released. [Photos added].

Looks very interesting. What happens if you give the light to someone who has not been instructed on the operation? Can they figure out the switch? (that tends to be a good way to test for ease of use).

They will find the temporary ON function at first.
I think.
The constant ON need an instruction.
But after that, up or down will be natural.
When people know that Right and Keep = ON,
then he will try to find OFF by testing Right and Keep or Left and Keep.

Like most multi-mode lights, they'll go "WTF mate?". However, I suppose if you're lending it to someone, just tell them to push it left for on...

Re: An UI never used before. Spartanian 2, RC1 version, released. [Photos added].

Unless you are in habbit of loaning out very expensive tools to others without a single thought ...

Which brings back to one of the question; is it cheaper than SureFire Titan ? :)

Re: An UI never used before. Spartanian 2, RC1 version, released. [Photos added].

We still have works to do before sending out samples to reviewers.
Selfbuilt, X2X3X2, and ernsanada ...
I let them wait too long.

The report on Output vs Runtime will be available first.
