Amongst all of my lights I still don't have one with a warm white emitter.

I would like one that preferably can run of 18650's.

Online I have seen the
UltraFire WF502B MC-E 5-Mode Warm White LED Flashlight with Clip (1*18650)

the

UniqueFire M2 MC-E 5-Mode 800LM Warm White LED Flashlight with Strap - Black (1*18650)

and the

Romisen RC-M4 II Neutral White 2-Mode Tactical LED Flashlight supposedly compatible with some 18650's.

as inexpensive lights that will do the job.
Are they any good and are there others I should be looking at?

I like to share with you with my experience with cheap light, it doesn't not pay to go cheap. I know it's a hard pill to take but it is true.

There aren't too many warm-white 18650 lights out there that's for sure. Out of the ones you have pointed out, I would stay away from the xxxfire lights. If open up one of them, more then likely you will find everything is sub par in it. Bad solder joints, thin wires, some unknown paste under the emitter, plus there are too much of this unknown paste on the pill. The main thing about the xxxfire light is their driver for being extremely bad at regulating the current. Some of their wiring I would put them as dangerous as I have seen expose wires before.

I have heard good things about Romisen, but their tail cap spring is way too long and thin for my liking. This means thanks to the spring resistance a lot of your current will turn to heat. Their forward clicky switch is something interesting to be found on cheaper light.

If I need to go for cheapest but the best, a used EagleTac can be found pretty cheaply. I remember that you can get a T20C2 for $75 shipped on B/S/T with a neutral XP-E emitter drop in.

Also if you are handy with the tools, I will personally will mod a light myself. It doesn't not take too much effort to desolder an emitter and mount one on yourself. It's best of both world as it's the cheapest and the best.

If you don't want to build your own light, you can always get a warm white D26 module from nailbender with a Solarforce L2p on Ebay. I have to tell you the L2P is no Surefire. My L2P started peeling it's HA3 coating with it in my front pants pocket. The tail cap spring again to long and thin like the Romisen.

I will end with this note about single cell flashlights, it doesn't work with the bigger and badder emitters. If the emitter have a high Vf, it means you won't able to use the light for long. Even with a driver the light is no better then a direct drive light as a single li-ion cell can't discharge 2.8amps for long.

Happy hunting.

Thanks for the input. I was not necessarily looking for cheap it's just that those one seemed to pop up.

18650 is also not critical, I'll see what else appears.

quark has warm whites. HDS Ra comes in high cri. nailbender can make warm tint drop-ins.

i have one of his SST-90 3000k warm. used it in a made in china host at first. but loved it so much, that i had to get a deserving host for it.:naughty:

EagleTac has the T20C2 that takes 1x18650 and the M2XC4 that takes 2x28650, both come in neutral (and cool).
The new Zebralight SC60 still only cool but the other models came in neutral after a while.

Flashlight Connection has the various Dereelights. Get one assembled with the 1S Cree 5A tint Q4 pill.

What kind of beampattern do you want?
http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=277951 + a cheap solarforce l2p will give you a ton of floddy light with desent reach.

The warm quark turbo +18650 tube, wont fit due to non square threads on the warm quark turbo. I got a warm quark turbo on rcr16340, but i had to recut the threads on the body for it to fit.

I have a 7C MC-E MG PLI driver that shiningbeam put in a MG L-mini II host for me. The MG PLI has been replaced by the P-Rocket. I don't know if the P-Rocket is available in warm tints yet (last I looked, I saw cool and neutral tints).

Ive got the MG P SST-50 Rocket in warm white on 18650.
It is a winner!

Is that a custom mod? As soon as I read your post I went to Bryan's site only to find neutral white versions of the P-Rocket and X-Thrower.

If there is a warm SST50 light (not a drop-in), I'd give it a crack. To my eye Luminus's neutral offerrings compared to Cree's (I have both XP-G and XR-E) are 'cooler' without that typical cool white tint, which I prefer.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I have decided on the T20C2MKII with optional warm white drop in.

I look forward to doing some comparison tests between the two.

I second tsask's comment. My MG P SST-50 (neutral white) produces an exceptionally useful amount of light in the woodland environment in which I use mine. I get excellent color rendition and edge definition, and the variable low-medium-high output selections extend the run time on the 18650 cell.

Good move checking out Shingbeam. :twothumbsI confused neutral with warm. I still think you might be pleased with the tint of neutral however.

THANKS!

I almost didn't buy one then I misplaced my Ultrafire (SF clone)
w500 lumen LED drop in.:ohgeez: I used 18650 cell in that light. I then found Shingbeam's neutral version and made the move. the included holster made a good deal even better! :twothumbsI am VERY glad I bought this light

+1 on this solution. Get a cheap host and then a Nailbender P60 drop-in. You can get really warm SST-90s or XP-Gs right now. If you like it, upgrade the host later on.
