This was NOT FUN :) This was a brand new light and had TONS of red loctite. It took me 2 hours to finally get it apart! I do not plan on offering this mod UNLESS your U2 is already unlocked.

The MCR12 reflectors are really nice and 2x as deep as the 10mm version.

Great idea and very nice work Mac :twothumbs...

Did you wired the Rebel's 2xs, 2xp to the stock-driver?

Best regards

Really lovely mod- can we see some comps with a W- or X- binned U2?
And what about runtime and temps?
I have a couple of spare U2s that might get similar treatment!!!
Thanks for showing us this!

I had the idea a while back but Milky beat me to the build :) Yes they are wired 2s2p using the stock driver.

Mac, nice work... any chance you could bring this one to PF10? Would be neat to get some beamshots of the stock U2 vs. 10mm U2by2 vs. 12mm version.

As for the NOT FUN part... I feel your pain!

Nice work cmacclel! How much would you charge for the mod? What needs to be removed? Does the dimmer still work? What kind of runtimes are you getting? I may prefer this over a M@g mod...

Cool Mac!

With the stock driver, how does this mod affect the current draw/runtime? Could it run on 18650 and what would the subsequent performance be?

Thanks.

Also... was this for a customer? Or can I buy? :naughty:
