TK10 / TK11 Question

Guy I am newish to this forum and to the whole High End lights therefore this question may have already been asked and answered but I couldn't find it in the search.

Why can the TK10 not run on 18650 while the TK11 can run on eigther the CR123 or the 18650? Is there a difference in the circuitry of the TK11 head that allows this to hapen? Will my TK10 be damaged or will preformance suffer if I were to drop an 18650 into my TK10.

You can not get a 18650 into a TK10, the inner diameter of the battery tube is to small. The TK11 might also be a tad brighter with 17670 (A slightly slimmer version of the 18650 battery) than TK10, there are discussion about the reason for this, either the led or the circuit.

The TK11 has a larger battery tube.

I don't have any 18650, but as I read here, they just don't fin in the TK10. I have both lights I run on CR123A, I wrap some folded paper around the cells for the TK11 in order to prevent rattling.

Only Fenix knows why both lights are nearly the same while the TK11 is rather ugly and you can change the cigar-ring for a copper ring on the TK10 and why you are limited to primaries if you want the smooth beam... :sigh:

I got the TK11-R2 because it is terribly srong thrower with a very easy UI, the M20 is to "complicated" to use for night caches where you have to change output constantly.

I haven't tried it, but you may have trouble fitting those in too. I think the problem is the protection circuit making them a bit long. I seem to remember reading that AW's will fit but I'd check first.

Aw's fit in mine, a little bit tight though, you might want to remove the label if using them.

I have flattops tenergy 18650 and their fit is great in my TK11. Same size as an AW 18650 with sightly more capacity. Protection circuit works great too.

Great cells for the price..
