Ultra Stinger Problems

I have a Streamlight Ultra Stinger (3 years) which gets occasional use. Lately I noticed that the bulb goes off by itself with the slightest movement. I need to tap it a certain way (always different) before the light goes back on. The problem is getting worse and worse and I spend several minutes tapping the light before it will go on. I removed the head, bulb and battery pack and put them back, making sure the 2 pins in the bulb are firmly in place, but it does not solve the problem. Since the bulb is not burned out and the battery works, I assume replacing the bulb or battery pack would not help.

Any suggestions before I trash my Ultra Stinger? Thanks.

Ok, let's look at some things. Firstly, is the large spring that pushes down on the lamp assembly in place? This keeps the lamp assembly pushed down onto the pin holes, and keeps shocks from moving the lamp assembly.

Yes it is. I can see and feel the spring pushing down on the white plastic tab that ensures the two pins of the bulb are in place.

1. loosen and re-tighten the two screws that hold the charging base to the body (the small triangular piece that clicks in to the charge base).

2. Bad switch. Buy a new one and install.

Actually if you have a Streamlight warranty store nearby, they will do the replacement for free. I just had a switch, switched out, a couple of months ago. Go to Streamlight web site and look for stores, warranty/repair stores, they are listed by state. They will fix whatever the problem is.

I undid the replaced the triangular piece that connects to the charger. I confirmed sufficient charge in the battery, so I agree it is probably the switch. I found an authorized Streamlight service center about 45 minutes from where I live. Thanks for your help.
