Uniross Hybrio - now only 1900mAh

Last week I bought some more Uniross Hybrio batteries. As always, I stated by discharging them on the MH-C9000 to check the initial out-of-the-factory charge. I normally get around 1700 to 1800 mAh. This time I only got 1383,1399,1393 and 1321mAh. I did a break-in cycle and got 1618,1646,1653 and 1548mAh while normally I get around 1950 to 2050mAh. Another discharge got me 1613,1637,1656 and 1544mAh. Something is wrong.

On closer inspection I saw that these new Uniross batteries look slightly different from the old ones, and in very fine print it says 1900mAh where the old ones used to say 2100mAh. It also no longer say "Long life" on it.

Has anyone else noticed this change?

There are many different varieties of cell labelled 'Hybrio' that have been seen in the wild. Maybe take a look at this thread and see how yours look compared to those pictured:

I found the ones I got with the small round button did perform quite weakly compared to the eneloop kind I had been used to.

Yes, that is exactly it. Only in my case the labels are deceptively similar. Notice how they dropped the "Long life" claim.

The long-discontinued white-top Hybrios were the only ones that outperformed Eneloops. Since they've gone downhill, there's no reason not to just get Eneloops..

Hey man,

This irritates me as I got a few of them as well but the outer packaging said 2100mAh like it used too.

I have big respect for my Hybrios before I even knew what a LSD was but cant count on any new ones at all.
I will be testing these new Safeway branded ones from Clicks tomorrow.
Only getting a Maha C-9000 then ;)

They seem to hold their charge and came with high voltages from the packaging. I hope I am not disappointed.

We can also get GP Recyko for R124 for 4 from outdoorphoto.
Some on the way too. Between the Recyko, old Hybrio and some 2600mAh cells I have, I think I'm sorted now.

:( :(

The Safeway may be LSD but they are also only of the 1600mAh variety.
My old Hybrios and the Reycko's are both showing over 2000mAh.

Guess its remote and kids toy duties for the Safeways.
