UPDATED 11/16 to add images of Quark 123 Ti plus Surefire 6P with Malkoff M60F.

Following the lead of Dimerazorback I decided to create a post for all the beamshots (indoor) that have been collecting. Each photo should state the flashlight name, shutter speed, and F.Stop setting. If there's no mention of Fstop, it was taken at F4.5. ALL the F4.5s were shot with a Canon Digital Rebel with a 28-90 F4-5.6 lens - any with F3.5 were shot with the same camera but a Canon 28-135 F3.5-5.6 lens. Shutter speeds used were 1/10 (with the F4.5) and 1/4 and 1/3 (with the F3.5)

Photos were shot at a distance of approximately 24 feet with the light shining on tan drapes - hallway is 12 feet long and opens up to another 12 feet in a room.

Also a few collages of comparison shots thrown in for fun. All the photos can be found HERE, HERE or HERE.

It's time consuming, but fun, and I hope it helps out someone on CPF. Please post comments or questions!

Re: IMAGE HEAVY! Beamshots C2 M60W,6P SST-50, Quarks, Surefires, Novatac, Jetbeam, et

You have ~50 photos on one line, next to each other, which must be some sort of a record. The amount of horizontal scrolling required is more than any I've seen here before. The effect is simlar to having a photo some 15,000 pixels wide.

Please edit your post to put a line break between pics so horizontal scrolling is not required.

wow. you really can see the donut hole in the quark turbo. i'm not impressed.

The post looks normal using Opera or Firefox. Only in IE 8 do I get the ultra widescreen.

I don't see it either, but I'll plug in some line breaks. Sorry!

...and please don't think I'm on your case for some reason, but I've also noticed your sigline pic is too big. Rule 3 refers.

Since I can't see the problem on my browser, please let me know if this takes care of it.

Sorry!

Strange you can't see it, but I'm not using the same browser so I can understand your point.

Rule 3 stipulates images should not exceed 800 pixels in width. More than that makes loading slow and horizontal scrolling necessary for some users.

None of your pics are over-size, but by having them side-by-side, they take up >800 pixels. Most of them appear to be ~350 pixels wide, so it would be good if you could put only two on each line, then a line break, then another 2, etc. That way you won't exceed the 800 width limit.

At the moment you still have ~9 on one line.

I'll fix it - I'll just delete them all and re-post them. Honestly, I meant for this post to be a help....if you think that we should just delete it, I'm okay with that - but otherwise, I'm happy to make the adjustments. Sorry for the trouble!!

Pictures look fine to me, thanks for putting those beamshots up. That SST-50 drop in looks really really nice. Where did you purchase it? I'm looking for a drop in for a solarforce L2 that's floody just like the beamshot of the SST-50 you put up.

It is amazing - but it is a battery hog. That said, when I want a flood monster for short bursts, it's the one I always go to.

See this post - Nailbender made this one for me.

The pics look good now, thanks for correcting them.

The M1X always stands out doesn't it. Thanks for the comparison.

You are most welcome. Where it really stands out is in throw. I always have it with me when I am walking my dogs - when I see deer in a field with one of the other lights, I whip out the M1X and light 'em up.

Choose one light overall? My Surefire LX2. Choose one light for searching? M1X - hands down.

Seems to me that you just choose both and enjoy the great "one-two" punch like you have been. :naughty: Very nice combination. :)

And therein lies one of the joys of this hobby, "Which ones shall I use today??"

Hey, try a smooth reflector on that SST-50. :naughty:

Thanks for fixing the photos, run4jc. They make a very useful comparison indeed. That Nailbender drop-in has a very impressive flood beam.
