if i was looking for one, it wouldn't be 6p. i'd get 6p for flexiblity of drop-ins.

if you want an inc, which is perfect fine, then get one which has benefits that led cant top or come close to.

;)

One way to go would be a host that has the flexibility to use different D26 drop in's, be it LED or incandescent.

For incandescent go at least 9volt.

An example would be a Surefire 6P with an A19 one cell adaptor. You could run an incandescent P90 9v bulb in it on 3 CR123's or two 17500 rechargeables. You would also be able to add numerous LED drop ins in and use either that 3 cell configuration or a two cell 6P configuration.

There are other brands that would give you this flexibility also.

I agree, go with a host that can take 9v worth of batteries. There are 3 main options, either a 9P with 3xCR123a or 2x17500 or step up to 18mm rechargeable cells in either 2x18500 (bored 9P, still able to use 3xCR123a) or 2x18650 with a body from either FM or Leef. These all allow you to use incan D26 sized lamps or LED drop-in's.

The options for incan include Surefire P90/P91, Lumens Factory "9" range (brightness from similar to P90 to brighter than P91) as well as FM's D26 assembly that can take WA bulbs.

Lots of choices.

Cheers,
Nova

An SF 6P, G2, or one of the 9P,G3, are all good choices for an incandescent, that give you the flexibility fo "going" LED when you want to. They are the Classics.

However also take a look at the SF A2 Aviator. It has a good regulated incandescent beam with low light LED.s
I think the white LED's are best for general use.

I have been using a 6P since they first came out, but my favorite portable handheld is the A2 Aviator. I really like its low output feature, and its Incandescent light is very good.

I recently installed a Lumens Factory HO A2 bulb and it is just enough brighter to make it worth while.

Since heat isn't a problem a smaller sized incan light with the right batteries can produce output that will crush most leds, although runtime suffers.

Get a SureFire C2 Centurion HA and a Leef Body 2x18500 -->>http://www.lighthound.com/LeefBody-...ry-or-3x123-Battery-HA-III-Natural_p_920.html
And then get 2x AW 18500 Li-ion or 2x 18500 IMR cells.

If you want to save money, start with a stock SureFire 9P, only get a 6P if you are going to buy a longer aftermarket body tube for it. 9+ volts is the way to go with incandescent lights.

And then you'll have these great incan options to try out:

- ES-9
- SR-9
- HO-9
- EO-9
- IMR-9
- P91
- Wolf-Eyes and Pila D20 9V lamp assembly
- Many Bi-Pin lamp assemblies
(with the Fivemega bi-pin socket for SureFire P60).

In case you get tired of the D26 size feeling you need more "oomph", you can buy a SureFire KT2 Turbohead Kit. It will really open up a lot of new options and possibilities.. I highly recommend taking this route.

For the LF EO-9 and especially the Surefire P91 lamp assemblies I would recommend a two 18650 rechargeable setup since these lamps draw so much power.

I have been using a two 18500 set up with the EO-9 with success.

2x AW18500 can handle the EO-9 or the P91 just fine. You must use quality cells, though (from AW).

Even 2x AW17500 will handle the EO-9 smoothly (but not the P91).

Hmmm....I have at least a hundred incands, but no A2. So not a must have. It's also against my religion to talk someone into an Incand. But then, what do I know anyway?
I guess it's a must have if you want a pocket-sized incan with regulation, there is no other model like this available...

Dude, ya gotta have an A2. Try it, you'll like it. :poke:

Sorry to rain on your parades, but I ruled out the A2 when I saw the 3 LED's were not bright enough at a measely 3 Lumens for my low level uses, and the total lumen output with Xenon bulb is only 50L--regulated or not.

BTW, when the hell did Surefire start selling weapon suppressors on their website ??? I must have missed that before.

A long time ago...Since they started manufacturing them, I guess. You can't buy them from the website though, it must be purchased from an authorized dealer.

This is the exact reason why I never considered an A2. The 3 led's in the reflector ruin it for me.
For the same price you could purchase a C3 Type III and a 6P, but I'd go for a 9P with a A19 extender, 17670's and a charger, not forgetting a P91.

An E2E can use all the LF bulbs, or you have the stock MN03 (60 Lumens for 1 hour), the MN02 (25 lumens for 2.5 hours), and when used with a spacer, the MN01 (15 lumens for 1.25 hours), and you can use all the E-series slip-on filters which are alot cheaper than the "P" series filters.

Surefire E2e

Still the best all around.

Improved 3-D perspective. Very important in tactical situations where you need to quickly identify targets and terrain. Also very important in outdoor situations for walking at night, especially in areas with shrub or brush and branches.
