if some of u recall, i had a 'baseball' HID 35watt light was to be put for sale ...
due to some manufacting defects, i took apart it and mod it .
basically, i took the insides and resolder the ballast and the batteries to be able to charge by my FMA hobby charger ... (4 x 26650s, printed 5 amps, actual 4 amps) into this little steel diy box.
as i am not gd with diy, non had any welding equipments, i used alot of adhesives ... high temp ones .....
Back view: note the 2 top switch on the top, basically its a fail-safe system i invent, 2 of these switches must be turn 'on' (in oppsite direction) inorder for the light to operate, which makes accidentally turn 'on' unlikey, especially if i were to transport the light in my backpack.
oh ... see the small little box on the 'backside', its used to cover the charging port .....
---------------------------------------------------
so i also added some webbings on it, to be carried by hand, and a shoulder strap too ....
-------------------------------
why i took so long was, find the ideal box(from local electronic shops) to contain the ballast and the batteries, to be jus enough ...... not too big and not too small ....
and making 2 small and 1 big hole in a metal box with only a standard wall drill is no fun
..... thus if u ever going to do one for yrself, try to get proper tools unlike me ....
-----------------------------------
due to the efficient charging of my hobby charger, all the Lions are charged and balanced! (orginially in the china-made charger, no such function, oh this applies to all the china-made HIDs) my lightings managed to increase the duration from ah hour to abt 1hr 40 mins.
--------------------------------------------
downside : no protection of undervoltage though, but its ok, did a few charging and discharging ...... cut-off voltage is usually at 3 V per cell, so jus got to monitor how long per run.
------------------------------------
lastly, i going to mod another HID light if i can get my hands on it ... :shakehead
