Which is the better flashlight? The Maratac "iTP C7" AA or The NiteCore Smart PD AA?

190 lumens from a Cree Q5 from ONE AA?

Hmmmm.... Does that "AA" happen to be a lithium-ion 14500?

You Sir are an educated consumer! Not what marketing departments have in mind when they write engineering specs.

+1
i had a C7 one before as well. I've also had an EX10 before, and based upon that (EX10 & D10 is very similar), I'd say as a tool, I'd prefer the C7 while if you want something "special" or fancy, get the D10.

d10 and c7t here..

d10 in pocket edc role is great..

itp c7 in general use is great.. (i use it around the house alot)

itp is a bit bulky for my preference as small 1aa light to carry in a pocket. the diameter makes it feel chunky. if i will carry a bigger diamter light.. i have rather taken a small 18650 light instead. (lmini2)

itp has very convinient ramp up feature, it does take two hands (well you can use it single handedly but its a bit too difficult for me to do with ease)

itp can be operated with winter mitts also. (d10 needs more dexterity.. i have to take the gloves off to use it)

the itp has more smooth ramping feature.. even steady pace. the d10 that i have, is too fast.. i cant pick the "just right" amount of light as easily as i can with itp.

d10 is nice mix of throw and flood. itp is more of thrower.

d10 has a lot nicer tint.. i prefer warmer tints and the itp is harsh white.

d10 pocket clip is sturdy and gives the anti-roll that itp wont offer.

itp allows you to lego bodies.. c7 c8 and c9 all available with one head and clicky.. just buy the 1aa 2aa or cr123 body. (i originally bought the itp c8t.then got the c7 body)

i rather have em both. hah.
to choose one.. i would pick the d10..
reasons: smaller, pocket clip, tint, floodier.

I don't have the Maratac but I do have two D10s and have had my hands on two more. Tint is a lottery so don't consider it when you're comparing these two lights. The only way to guarantee tint is to buy Neutral White (which some companies define as pure white and others define as yellow or brownish) or Warm or Guaranteed Tint, like on RA lights. Another way is to specify bins. I know you can't buy Nitecore D10s in this manner, I've tried.

For the record, I have one D10 Q5 and one GDP. They're both the ramping version and my only issue that I've ever had with them is the tint. The Q5 is green, the GDP is blue/violet. That didn't stop me from EDCing the GDP for almost a year, though. Good luck with your decision.
