I WAS WANTING TO KNOW IF ANYBODY CAN HELP ME OUT ON A FLSHLIGHT. ITS BETWEEN A FENIX LD01 OR A NITECORE CR2 OR THE VNITECORE AA ONE, JUST WANT SOMETHING THATS SMALL AND EASY TO CARRY AND BRIGHT ENOUGH,AND ANY SUGGESTIONS ON A REALLY GOOD AA AND AAA BATTERY ALSO.THANK YOU. JUST NEED SOME MORE INFO..

Personally, I like my every day carry light to fit on my keychain, and I find the AA lights are a bit too big for my tastes. CR2's are neat, but expensive and hard to find out in the real world. I recommend going with a AAA light such as the LD01. I'm not sure but it sounds like you also want a recommendations on actual batteries. Try and find some sanyo eneloops, they are great.

You should also check out the liteflux AAA lights and the new maratac and ITP AAA lights, which are pleasantly cheap, half as expensive as the fenix.

where are you going to carry it?
Keychain: LD01 SS
pocket/bag/belt/pouch: EZAA or EZCR2

How often do you use it?
Very often: LD01 or EZAA
Not very often: EZCR2

They are all pretty bright, probably won't make too much of a difference for you.

I think the EZCR2 would be a bit quirky if you're not used to sourcing or using CR2 batts. Stick with either the LD01 or the EZAA.

I have both and they are very good indeed - my personal preferrence would be the LD01.

Nice to have the choice! Good luck.

I have no light using CR2, as I don't want to have to buy yet another kind of cells. While CR123A are available at dealers for a good price (the quantity you buy makes it), CR2 are somewhat rare and more expensive.

So, I would either take a slightly bigger light using CR123A or an AAA (or AA), used best with Eneloop type NiMh or Energizer L91/L92 (no Alkalines please).

As for your question, I have two LD01ss, they are very bright for their size, have a good beam and are a good value. A great Twisty on CR123A is the P1D-Q5, also called pocket rocket. I don't know the mentionned Nitecores...

NB : NO NEED TO SHOUT (we're not hearing impaired, we only need more light...)!!!

Yes we can help you, please stop shouting it is rude.
How small the light should be?

Really good AA and AAA batteries are Energizer lithiums, if you want rechargeables AA Eneloops are good.
Stay away from AAA Eneloops though, their performance in cold is a joke.

AA light (can also use 14500 cells)
Jetbeam Jet I Pro IBS v3.0. 3 modes, individually programmable, tough as nails too. you can get it from bugoutgear.com

Quark AA from 4sevens.com "click on 4sevens flashlights"

Nitecore EZ AA from 4sevens.com "click on Nitecore"

Akoray K-106 from kaidomain.com (which is where i got mine)

AAA light
Fenix LD01 also from 4sevens.com, 3 modes, tough as nails, lightweight (can use 10440 cells too)

Fenix E01 also from 4 sevens.com not so bright, but very long runtime

ITP A3 EOS from shiningbeam.com, there are 2 versions, single mode and 3 mode at a $2 difference in price

For AAs i use rechargable sanyo eneloops, for AAAs im using normal sanyos (not eneloops)

I do have 2 CR2 lights but find them a bit thick for keychain carry, one of them is the Ultrafire 606B which can use 2xAAs or 1xCR2 and the other is a Luxogen 3W CR2 both of which are budget lights.

there isnt any case of which LED light is 'better' its which one suits your needs. and please refrain from posting everything in capital letters, its like shouting online, only used in extreme circumstances. :D

EDIT: forgot liteflux, has both AA and AAA models

First off, using all caps is equal to shouting on the internet. Also people here are a lot nicer then many other forums, so no need to shout to be heard.

The Fenix LD01 is probably a good choice fo now, either that or the EZAA, both are nice lights. Just pick between 3 vs 2 modes and AAA vs AA.

If you buy at 4sevens, the coupon code is "CPF8".

:welcome:

I recommend the Fenix LD01, easy to use twisty, nice beam and tint, can handle different AAA chemistries, easier to get batteries, many ppl uses it, reliable and it is bright enough.

4sevens Quark AA tactical/regular might interest you for AA too. Takes Alkaline, NiMH, LiON 14500..

didn't realized what this picture means until i read what the OP post. LOL
fiorano was being polite about it...usually someone would have posted something like...

I understand that some forums users post in caps regularly whether it be an opinion-oriented poll or a tangential discussion thread but its best to understand and accept the policies of this forum from the start.

Now that the silly part is done, have you researched on the available threads existing on the forum with regards to AAA flashlights?

Newest Hi Performance single AAA lights?

I see you've summed down your options to the LD01, Nitecore CR2, and Nitecore AA. These are certainly good choices, but they lack a common denominator. What do you plan to use them for?

Small and easy to carry to what mode of comparison? How small? try a tactile object we can visualize to better understand your needs. My Surefire M6 to me is "small and easy to carry" but it certainly isn't what people would think of as "small and easy to carry":ohgeez:

Bright? how bright? is this going to be your main light? are you going to be in the woods? A backup light? Will you be reading? will you be looking for things in the distance? these are some questions that should be flowing in your head :)

Okay, so you've decided these lights are best for your needs, I presumed you've read through the substantial reviews available from notable forum members. You need some more info from us to select a light from these three or do you need info on alternative lights that are in the same category of lights?

looking through CPF without a description or objective its like looking for a needle in several haystacks of needles. No one here can be of help if your needs are expressed in the vague manner they are at the moment:shrug:

What are my recommendations, well pfft...
Say if your going to use the light daily, AAA's cost alot overtime so eneloop NiMHs will benefit you in the long run if you go for the LD01.
the LD01, like its L0D brother is Twisty operation, requires you to cycle through medium, low, high, strobe, Sos each time the light is operated. No programming needed, no memory. I've never owned an LD01 but the L0D has a distinguishable PWM cycle in medium and low. Since it starts on PWM it may be a bit discriminating when it comes to used or old cells. Sure you could quickly cycle it to high which it would be direct drive from that point on it may be a hassle.

the Nitecore CR2 looks cute, short and stubby. that CR2 might get you spending as well, they cost about $8 in stores and not much yield in discounts online. I dunno where can you buy CR2s online in a box of 12 and cost $1.50 each like its CR123A brother. AW stopped selling the protected RCR2s sometime ago and frankly even if you do manage to acquire a rechargeable CR2 they come in very small capacities...hardly be worth it unless the light is a novelty. I know the LD01 is springed but all twisty lights tend to be battery crushers...and supposedly nitecore lights can be tightened down further despite the activation of the light...this may cause battery/contact damage in the long run.

AA is economical, its cheap, its plentiful [which all things should be in this land as with cheese] and its easy to find. Two modes, high and low, no annoying Sos or strobe. The downside is, like the LD01, you can't really expect the run time to be a flat line when using anything other than lithiums. That's because of the inherent nature of alkaline cells, its not something that can be easily cured by a dermal or firmware patch...one of those reasons why I keep alkaline lights out of my system. Also...AAs in florida's temperature and humidity have the tendency to wet its sheets, probably do to anxiety or overly excited about hitting the beach. Dunno, either way they have a tendency to leak in the lights if they're left in them too long so I'd be careful around them.

So what would I recommend? dunno...it depends on what aspects you want me to recommend.

Probably not going to go wrong with a LD01. Mine is the ss model and i like it. Covers general illumination well except for a low - low. This is not your Dad's penlight!:twothumbs Really loving those AAA lights!
