Which TLE-6EXB has the best LED? LED Timeline?

I've found at least 3 different kinds of TLE-6EXB drop-ins for the 3D Maglite: a SSC P4, a CREE, and a Luxeon K2. Is there a timeline/review of all of these different versions, i.e. which came first, which had the most problems, etc? A breakdown of the different TLE-5EX would be nice, too, as it's hard to find a post with all three reviewed.

AFAIK, there are no threads reviewing all three, or two for that matter. Each one is somewhat discussed in cpf. The best thing to do is just search each one individually regarding their problems if any.

Regarding your concern, the Luxeon K2 TFFC is the one with the problems. There was a recall awhile back with the K2's. Here is ther thread with the recall issue:

There are no problems with the other two. Just differences in the LED itself. Just do a search on each individual. Hope that thread helps.
