Will the next generation of LED lights prevent me from purchasing the TK45 for $129?

Amazon has it for $129.95 which is a $20 drop.

Starting a collection.

I saw it for almost the same price on Solar Force Store.

TIA.

The question is should they?
It depends on you.

If your enjoyment of a light will be diminished by knowing there's something brighter and more efficient then don't buy it.

I personally Do Not Care, and I carry an older custom light with what is probably the Seoul equivalent of a Cree Q2 or Q5.

Same question about computers. There are always new faster CPUs, higher capacity HDDs, etc...so you can wait all your life if you care too much about the obsolescence of a product containing a modern LED or CPU, but one thing is sure, your TK45 will be as bright in 10 years than today so if you really need a flashlight with this brightness level, it's really up to you.
If you don't really need it, wait for 1 year, TK45 will be cheaper.
Simple.

For that price you just cant beat it but if you can swing a little more money why not leap higher and get an Olight SR91?

With computers, it's easy. Just order the slowest processor available in the current processor generation and enough RAM that you don't expect to swap to disk at all (2G is currently plenty for Linux...Windows needs more). If you're one of those people who processes audio/video or has some other reason to need unusual amounts of processing power or memory bandwidth (or whatever), then you already know what you need.

It's not quite so simple with flashlights because some people still have legitimate uses that require output and runtime beyond what a single cell light can currently do.

Lucky for me, I'm not one of those people. Any multi-mode light that can do 100+ lumens for at least an hour on a single cell is more than enough for me so my decisions are almost completely driven by tint and UI.

So, my advice to you: if the TK45 meets your requirements and you like everything about it and can get it for a good price, get it. If you're afraid to buy because something else might eventually come out that will be better, then you'll never buy a light because that fear will always own you. (and having no light is infinitely worse than having an outdated light).

Olight SR91 Intimidator 1500 Lumen LED Flashlight

All I can say is, wow. Great light.

Cost is too much for me but thanks.

I just checked into this since the person posting said a "little more money". 400.00 plus dollars compared to $130.00 is more than a little more money! That Olight looks nice, but is in a different class. If the T45 is anything like the T40, I would jump on it! There is always going to be a "next generation". :)

For that price I'd buy a TK45, I already own the TK40. They preform a little differently but are both awesome. I like the button set up on the TK45. I bought the TK40 because it was cheaper by 40 dollars and no regrets
