Winter time always brings out the urge to buy surefire lights even ones i dont need because they have the same or less output as the other surefires i have. Just got the 6P defender and i am sure that wont be the last surefire this fall.

aside from the output, using surefires in winter allows you to leave the handwarmer at home, thats one less thing to worry about in the great outdoors

I just got a 6pd as well, very nice indeed! I am in the process of acquiring a p60L to make it a 6pdl :)

I'm heading into summer now, and that doesn't seem to be slowing down my surefire fever, i'm looking at a g3, another g2l, a2, L1 cree, L2, U2, x300 or Kroma. Decisions Decisions! ;) To clarify I've got to decide between the above, I wish I could get them all :)

Winter and SureFire, now that brings back a memory. I remember being so cold one night that I actually fired up my SF M4 to use as a hand/foot warmer! Expensive waste of batteries and a crazy thing to do, but I have to admit that it was "fun."

i just do most of my buying around this time and january and most of the time its a surefire. i think thats because its my favorite time of the year to use them since it gets darker sooner and gets cold enough to see the beam of the light.

By the way... Daylight Savings Time ends late this year, on November 4th... which means Flashlight Season starts late! Oh well, that'll give me an extra two weeks of "long" days to turn a light out on my lathe.

The nice thing about winter with regard to lights is that I always have a jacket on me or near me that holds a Surefire C/P series light. Summertime dress doesn't always give you a place to lug around a substantial light.

Its a primordial attraction to incandescent light!

Its incan season. What good is 150 lumens if you can't see anything beyond 20 feet? Sure the target is illuminated but my feable mind can't process the image.

"Torches" should be incans.

get a holster or find a smaller light :grin2:

It's a great time of the year for new lights with it getting dark earlier and I'm looking forward to that very short time of year that I can wear a jacket. I'm overdue for a SF purchase and I've had my eye on the E1L for a while now. I might have to pull the trigger soon.

When the seasons change, incan's tend to help ward off the winter blues. A good incan warms up the fall foilage and helps cut through the sometimes harsh winter conditions, depending where you live of course.

During this time of the season, my LED's are regulated to back-up duty only, both indoors and outdoors. As silly as this may sound, the warmer tint/beam of the incan is just more "comforting", to me during the winter. As a ritual, I start to go pull out all my incans , mostly Surefires, find holsters, re-charge batts, etc. A great time of the year for incan fans.:twothumbs

Best Regards:
Bob

True you have the ability to hold more lights

This doesn't sound silly at all! Light and quality of light affect our emotions very much. I love all kinds of lights, but "comforting" light definately goes to the incandescent.

I'm with you on this one! Love the down jacket- winter is the only time I can actually carry as much stuff, (flashlight, first aid kit, knife, etc....) that I want to. Comfortably!
