Well...Spree killers are very difficult to catch. There's been media rumors of a van sighting w/two individuals aboard, etc...Here's what I've gathered, mainly from various media sources and my personal mental ramblings.
The guy has NO formal training, but has probably read a great deal, seen the various "how-to" vids, etc. He probably has TRIED to become a Police Officer, maybe even a military sniper, but has failed on both. And he's working alone.
He kills for the thrill, but not from the actual shooting, but instead he's living out a fantasy, and the first kill did not quell his desire to relive that fantasy, and with each shooting, he thinks of himself as a higher power; a "god complex" has been mentioned. His weapon is part of the fantasy. He charishes it, and will not use another. .223 caliber shells have been recovered, along with bullet fragments, but nothing on what type of firearm he's using. Probably an AR type, which isn't necessarily a "sniper" long gun.
Dropping the Terot card was a juvenile act, and his attempt to make himself larger than the Police, whom he thinks as his enemy. I'm actually surprised he hasn't taken a shot, yet, at a Police/Law Enforcement Officer. The last shooting was brazen enough to do so, as a State Trooper was very close to the shooting victim, but something may have occured to sway him away.
His choosing of victims is completely random.
What will continue?
--He will do more.
--He will try to get closer and closer to the victim; the stalking is a major part of his ritual.
--He may shoot at a Law Enforcement Officer.
-He will not kill himself.
-He probably his in his late 20's and lives at home.
-He probably collects Police or Military memorabilia.
-He probably has Police Scanners in his home or van/car.
-He's a Police or Military groupie: I.E. uniforms, patches, equipment, news clippings, videos...
-He probably doesn't have a job per se, instead,
he probably does handyman or traveling type work.
-He has very few friends, no intimate contacts.
-Somebody will start putting the clues together; based off of contacts with the shooter, like a gun store employee, relative, witness, etc.
-He won't be caught in the act, but will be arrested, probably at his home.
-He may have already been contacted by the Police, and may have a special interest in his own press.
What do I base this on? Absolutely nothing, other then I read a lot of John Douglas' books...
In the late '70's in San Francisco, there was a string of apparant random shootings of white people, which was done by a group of black muslims; the Zebra Killings. They were apprehended after the group fell apart. The East Coast shootings are not race related, but he's working alone, and will be difficult to catch.
