I was watching the Shawshank Redemption last night and thought I saw a Streamlight TL3 in the part where Tim Robbins escapes prison through a sewer pipe. The movie was made in 1994. How old is the TL3?

Anyway, the movie takes place before 1994, not sure when though?

It definitely wasn't a SL TL3. They've only been out 3-4 years at most. I believe the movie was set in the 1930's or 1940's IIRC. I've seen it at least 3 or 4 times. Most of the movie was filmed in Ohio, within an hour or two of where I live.

The movie starts in the mid-1940s but the part where he escapes is in the late 1960s I believe. I don't think Streamlight or the TL3 even existed back then. Despite the historical inaccuracy which only people here would notice it is a great movie.

It is the kind of mistake hollywood would make and only people like those here would recognize. However if the TL3 has only been out for 3 or 4 years it definitly could not be one as that movie is quite a number of years old now, I am guessing close to 10? Will have to look to be sure.

I was actually too low in my estimate, it was put out in 1994, so it is now 12 years old. Pretty good guess though for never having seen the movie ;).

I didn't think they had the TL3 in '94 but it had that look to it. Definately wasn't from the 1940's :)
