Ooh, this will be interesting. Best album in what genre?

Even then it'll be a difficult choice.

I think for jazz "Blue Trane" is probably the best, (at least my favorite).
Wait, maybe "The Sidewinder?"

Aw, heck, I can't pick a best. They're all good.

Jefferson Airplane--After Bathing At Baxter's
Paul Kantner--Blows Against the Empire

Both have to be listened to without interruption.

"Elvis Presley" by Elvis

It's mostly music from his formative era, before bowing to the commercialized formula.

Yet another Pink Floyd vote, Dark Side of the Moon.

Can I call the Herbert von Karajan Complete Set of Beethoven Symphonies one album? If so, that would get my vote, even over DSotM.

Led Zeppelin "The Song Remains The Same" Live
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Rush - 2112
Steely Dan - Aja

I know I'm missing quite a few others but those come to mind right now.

Rainbow Ri
sing is pretty good.

I was going to say Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow. And Rainbow rising is a great heavy album. I like it a lot but listen more to Rainbow Live World Tour with the same players. Rainbow Rawks!

Ritchie was a big influence on my playing and I play scalloped neck guitars, exclusively as does he.

This is impossible! Pink Floyd is definitely fantastic. The Wall, The Dark Side of The Moon, and Wish You Were Here are all excellent. Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" is great, or at least the tracks that I'm familiar with (are). Rush 2112 is great. Too many choices. I'd never be able to pick just one.

Darn it! Forgot about those. I always get confused when I try to pick the best of something for all time. So many things are good.
