Clearly, your pumpkin cannot be powered by flame.

nor by Incandescent (not even a SF type :>)

nor HID - you'll cook it...

so LEDs! woo hoo :>

Only a month left and I'll get to go out pumpkin killing!!

I have but a lowly cheap flat orange plastic pumpkin that once held a C7 1/2 Christmas bulb inserted through a round hole on the back. One year I lit it with a fluorescent tube, another year I stuffed a string of white Christmas bulbs inside, and I'm not sure yet about this year. Maybe I'll shove a 9-Star in the little hole in the back and hang it in the window.

I think I will use an old Pal with the chip style LED without the top. It spreads out quite nicely and should have an errie blusih glow.

I've noticed, even in grocery stores, this year they're selling strobe lights particularly for this purpose. I don't remember the prices, but it seemed like they were only about six dollars.

Last year I used an Eveready folding LED light with good results. Just slid it into a Ziplock sandwich bag before placing it inside ol' Jack.

You know, I just remembered I still have an orphan Color Kinetics C-75. I think I'll cut out the back of my plastic pumpkin to fit it, and use that instead of Christmas lights.

Last year I tried using one of these revolving warning lights :

The amber light gives a great effect...
