I'm looking for a light with the same functions as the Fenix E01, but in a 2 AA. I also would like a twist on too, but will consider other options. Any suggestions?

Basically you want a slim 2xAA light that is fairly cheap and not too bright but runs for a long time and is single mode?

Even though it is 1xAA the Gerber infinity ultra is a good choice
Possibly also a maglite with a nite ize drop in

Thats all I can think of at the moment.

Any more specifics? Size, output, multi-mode, price range, intended usage, etc?

Basically, the more info we get the more help you get...

**edit** Oops I didn't read very carefully. Suggestions below are 2xAAA...

Don't quote me on this but I think theres an LED drop in for the 2AAA minimag. There's also the SL microstream and there used to be a river rock 2AAA. The latter being a forward momentary twisty... IIRC.

Look no longer than the Fenix LD05.
Should be available now at most dealers. Both are 14 mm in diameter.

Has both very low setting and - on contrast to E01 - it has a high which can really cast some light.

Not twisty though.

The LD05 is a AAA light

How'd I suppose to know what he wants when asking for a 2 cell light the same diameter as E01

You don't get a light with infinite thin walls. So the logical conclusion must have been that the AA was a typo.

He then edited his original post after I had made my reply...

I thought of one more possiblity. The bed bath and beyond near me has these dorcy 2xAA flashlights that feature a single nichia emitter, which I believe is what the fenix e01's have right? They also claim significant runtimes so I figure it should be somewhat analgous to the E01, except the dorcy's may have optics Im not sure.

just saw this on DX, the tint looks awful, but it kinda looks like what you are looking for.

I have the 1AA-version of that light and it definitely has the same functions as the E01 (dim, crappy tint (not as bad as in the beamshot of the 2AA light though), long runtime).

It's actually quite nice for the price, I use it if I have to get up at night.

I actually just ordered one of the 1xAA versions but the 2xAA looks like and sounds like from the review that it has a much worse tint. Maybe the leds are being over driven? Yeah the single AA version looks much better but the OP want something in 2AA so thats the one I mentioned.
