Whats the best LED based light thats got a god aweful throw like the good ole incan's

Im talking BEST, and also affordable , If not whats "the best throw of led lights" thats affordable?

im just looking to see LED lights that have brightness and throw.. most people i know say that led's are bright but can throw as good as a paraplegic with no arms or a head... weird i know but im trying to tell this guy i know thats my P2D has awesome throw compared to anything i ever had before.

Macs Custom Aspherical Mags are throw monsters, not sure what you're price bracket is but i'd say they're in the easier to reach end of the custom spectrum. Off the shelf I'm quite impressed with my smooth reflectored Fenix P3D. You're not going to get anything to match the big "99Million Candlepower" yellow buckets unless you go for something like this!

Currently it looks like the Lumapower MRV and for custom mods, maybe one of 'em aspherical mags. Also, LED modules for SF Turboheads are a good mix of flood and still throw very well. (After all, the reflectors are 2.5 to 3in)

Im just sick of the people i know telling me crap about led's being inferior and worthless other than to find yor keys and put them in the right lock... this is BS ansolute rubbish. Led's have more brightness in some cases than comparable incans but they dont have the same throw, they are not far from it though, the PxD versions of fenix throw very well indeed i can light up the side of a house from 50M away with complete detail... and people tell me an led cant throw?

My purpose here it just to "see" the best throwers, and to get your guys opinion on throw of current EDC led's

i think my P2D has very very nice throw indeed, anything in the same class got a better throw?

If it is THROW that is needed, Elektrolumens P4-Longthrow is the thing you want :)

Over 24000 lux @ 1m with a 3 inch reflector :D

so basically you can take any "powerful" led and make it throw as good as a really good incan thrower then!

Seethats the only thing im missing in my equasion is throw "equal" to incan. however that being said my P2D has the best led throw i ever had.

I once had a nuwai 5W that broke the same day of purchase and after i looked at the specs of that light and saw the throw was like in the latter 3 digits for lux throw compared to my P2D which is in the low 4 digits and my p2d has better light output than it also. That jaw dropped me

The best thrower is likely the Lumapower MRV. Fairly compact (would fit in a jacket pocket) yet emits 21000 lux @ 1m beam. The only things that can beat it are much larger lights, ro light using exotic lenses that sacrifice on some practicality.

For reference, that means the beam is almost TEN TIMES as intense as the P2D beam. Since the beam spreads out proprtional to the square of the distance, that means the MRV should effectively throw nearly 3.5 times further than the P2D (that is, a target at 300 meters will receive as much light from the MRV as it would from the P2d at 100m) Considering it also has two level regulated unrtime, and fits inside a jacket pocket, that sounds like the best candidate for stock LED thrower to me.

Right now the best LED thrower I have is a Lumapower M1 with an aspheric lens (with the money I've been dropping on lights lately, it will be a while before I can buy a MRV...)

The best thrower is Mac's Aspherical Mag - measured by one CPFer
at 57,000 lux at 1 meter.

I have one and its absoloutely insane how far it throws. It competes
with HIDs in this department even though it obviously doesn't output
as much light in total.

LED lights can throw if the optics are designed to harness the angle of
emission from the LEDs

Lumapower D-mini, M1 and particularly MRV have all been designed to
do this although they don't compare with the Aspherical Mag.
(however their beams are also more useful for general purposes)

No light is going to throw very far without some sort of optic, whatever
the light source.

For the money, my D-mini has great throw - equal to incandescent of the same size.

Throw is mostly a function of the reflector more than the LED itself which is plenty bright. Since LEDs are so small, most people make small lights with small reflectors with them. Of course there are many exceptions...

I agree the fenix PxD's throw very well, i can easily light somethingup as far as i can see. But my 6P w/ a CREE dropin i can light up houses 2 blocks away, it's ridiculous.

wow... reflector again + more lumens

First would be the LumaPower MRV. It is the latest off-the-shelf production "throw monster" that needs no modification. Second and about half the price (and 1/4th the size), is the LumaPower D-Mini. I have a D-Mini and it's one of my favorite lights out of my 12 lights: Very bright and throws great, all with a single 123-sized battery cell! I have a LumaPower MRV on the way and I expect it to out-throw the D-Mini big time.

Im really talking like super small compact like Surefire 6p size or smaller. a 6p can throw, and i expect other led lights that are "brighter" than a 6p should throw better ?! i guess its all about the reflector from what im told
