I am looking for a new keychain light to replace the ageing old maglite solitare. I've been looking at the Fenix LOD on batteeyjunction.com but it is way to pricey, and being only 15 years old, I don't have a lot of money to spend. What do you guys think? I want a cheap/bright light.

Maratac AAA around $20

Keep checking the CPFMarketplace, someone will sell a used one (Maratac, ITP, LOD) for maybe $15.

I forgot to mention only a single AAA battery only. Where do a find this light?

Just Google it. Many people sell it online.

It's also the same thing as ITP A3 upgraded model (standard is one mode and upgraded is 3 modes).

That's the version I have. You can also wear it around you neck for hands-free use. Just drop it in your shirt when not in use.

That thing actually looks pretty sweet. Where is a trusted place that i can purchase it from for cheap?

I just got my ITP A3 from Going Gear a few weeks ago. It was shipped right away. I've ordered by Battery Junction and Shiningbeam and can say the same about them.

All three have excellent customer service. Shiningbeam get my order together and got it ready to ship on Sunday when I didn't even order it until Sunday evening. I even got a confirmation email that appeared to not be automatically generated.

You can't miss with any of those three.

And it is a sweet light :) I like the regular version as opposed to stainless steel because it's very light weight.

Remember those powerful lights will work best on L92 lithium AAA cells that are about $2 each if you shop carefully. NiMH rechargeables will also work ok. Alkalines will suck.

If you just want a solitaire replacement with an AAA, try a Fenix E01. If you just want a keychain light, try fauxtons at 10 for $5 or so from dealextreme.com.

batteryjunction is a great dealer. outstanding service.

the itp A3 is very nice, when i received mine, it was smaller than i expected, and very lightweight, for about $20. it turns on at medium, low then high, which actually works out very well in my opinion.

batteryjunction also has another good AAA keychain light made by titanium innovations called illuminati using a XP-G R5. and its made of titanium!

Another + for ITP A3 from shiningbeam, although I am in the UK they and USPS and our Royal Mail combined effort got it here in 3 days.:)

Me too , shiningbeam got the A3 stainless to me (in the UK) in only three days.

The stainless version is quite heavy compared to the aluminium one ... 24.8 grams as opposed to 9 grams ... An AAA Eneloop is 12.1 grams on top of this ... An AAA Lithium weighs 7.7 grams so you could get a weight saving there.

As a comparison , my A2 Stainless weighs 41.1 grams and the aluminium one is 22 grams ... An AA Eneloop is 26.3 grams and an AA Lithium is only 14.5 grams ... I use Eneloops so my A2 weighs in at 67.4 grams and the A3 is 36.9 grams.

So a nice lightweight A3 with a Lithium battery would only weigh 16.7 grams ... That's less than half of the weight of my stainless A3.

It depends on how much you intend to use the torch ... If you intend using it a lot , the Eneloops are the way to go ... It's only a few grams heavier.

If you are looking at the best performance per gram of weight , it has to be the A3 ... They also come in several nice colours though their pocket clips are black (if that matters).

My EDC keychain light for the past several months has been the A3 (upgraded) run on an Eneloop. I am well pleased with everything about this light -- smooth beam, very bright high end, smooth UI, tiny size, light weight, durability -- except the M-L-H illumination sequence.

I got mine from Going Gear, and was quite pleased with the service.

I love my red A3, just not crazy about the sequence either. I wish it was L-M-H instead of the M-L-H.

Alright I think I've made a decision, now for the ordering... This will be interesting, my parents will be like "what the heck do you need that for?" LOL

Must admit at first I was not crazy but after using it for a few months, the sequence is better for work purposes for me.The low in the daytime in a semi lit room is of no use but medium is fine. But that it works for me is just my 10 cents worth, all users are different.

I've ordered my iTP A3 EOS 3 mode edition just about 10 minutes ago from battteryjuction.com. Can't wait until it gets here! I'm excited. :D First class mail better ship it fast or else. :grin2:
