This is a custom build for a fellow flashaholic. It takes 1 x 123 cell, and as you can see from the photo', it is quite short, but
very chunky - a full 1'' body diameter. In use this little light feels very secure in either a 'cigar' or 'fist' grip.

Other than finishing it in bare alloy I had free reign, so I used a modified reflector that I had wanted to put in a build for
some time ... I just hadn't had the time to do it for myself.

The tailcaps are C fitting, so the battery can be loaded from the back, and the switch is a McClickie modified with a larger
contact ring.

Choice of tails ....

The head is E fitting and takes an Aleph light engine. This one has an XR-E Q5 with a WH tint, and a GD1000 driver. Cree XR-Es'
and Seoul P4s' work well with this reflector provided they are positioned well.

The bezel join is almost invisible ....

As it started life as part of a Cree drop-in module there is nothing unique about the reflector, but with some re-sizing, and a
head designed specially to make the most of the spill. It gives a very nice beam - IMHO.

But you can decide for yourselves ....:nana:

The same light engine and battery was used for all the beamshots, and they were all taken at the same exposures for each group,
and with the white balance set to daylight. All at 1metre from the wall. None of the beams look quite so 'ringy' to the eye as they do
in the photos'

Compared with some McR classics, exposed for the spill ....

And exposed for the hotspot ....

The hotspot from the custom reflector is very similar in size to the McR19 hotspot, and almost identical in brightness. The spill is
as wide as that of the McR38, but not quite as bright.:grin2:

I hope its new owner will like it. I'm finding it quite hard to part with, so an HA-natural version is probably going to be next.;)

Thanks for looking,
Colin.

That thing looks wicked!
You torches always have such awesome style, and your lathe work is top-notch.

Perfect work Colin :twothumbs......

...as always ......

Great idea with the beamshots :goodjob:

Very best regards

That's really nice.

You must have spent some time thinking about that design, lots of good ideas there.

So how many hours went into that one piece?

I wish I had had an intreast in torches when I worked in a toolroom! The stuff I could have made. Too late now, moved to another area of engineering. Seeing you guys on here turning up these great little (and big) lights makes me miss making round things.:(

Only saw some of "Ganps" threads recently - his first post made me want to look deeper - this recent peice is simply outstanding

do you take on custom flashlight work?

or just for friends?

love this light and your brass stuff

To me it would be worth lots and lots $$$$$.
I got plenty of green if you're ever interested in making another, PM me.

Yet again another stunning piece of work
Having been a recipient of Colins work I can say it is top notch and if you do go ahead and get him to create something you'll not be disappointed!
