Just got my new DEREELIGHTs.2 and 5 stage OP and Smooth
Shipping was 5 days.

Came in a nifty black box for those that care about boxes.
Came with extra buttons and O rings.

Fit and finish on mine is as good as I have ever seen..at any price.
Grip is fine, I can't see ever dropping it.It looks in person like a very well made serious light.Mine is light grey and flawless.

Has a ring near tailcap for LEOs that like that kind of grip.Clip is a wire type and seems quite strong.Clipped in a pocket the head faces down.

All 3 grips work great on this light.Cigar, psycho killer holding a knife just above shoulder and low grip..as if your are holding your package for #1 release.

Clickey is fine, standard "Normal" FWD style.Mine came with 3 rubber buttons.Black/thick,black/low profile, green / glow in the dark.
This light CAN tailstand if needed.

It is about 3/4 of an inch longer then a Wolf Eyes 6a.All of that extra 3/4 is a DEEP reflector.

Threads had no dirt or crud on them BUT came bone dry. After a fast wipe I used my secret "Dow Corning high vacuum grease" lube.
Threads are coarse and thick, MUCH better then all other china lights I have seen. Not quite Surefire threads..but close.

Glass was totally clean, It should be tough A/R glass.I have no way to know if it is.

Some lights feel goofey in the hand. This light feels just right.

Both of mine are Q2.The 2 stage works easy.Tight for high,- 1 turn or so for low.I find the 5 stage a bit odd.Might just be me..perhaps I am not use to it.Function is fine though.Low is quite low for the low lumeniods.Strobe is just fast enough to annoy:thumbsup:

BEAMS: Both very white
Smooth reflector: Typical very ugly ( white wall) ringy, and artifacts.Throw is fantastic. This reflector is DEEP and beam is small and tight.I think it out throws all other 2x 123 type lights I have owned. If you need a spot outside this is great!

OP:This is not the most agressive OP I have seen.I would say it is between Wolf Eyes OP and LOP.
Beam has less artifacts as expected.I would not call it floody..but it is a "better" beam for the white wall hunters.Out side in real world use the beam is fine.I would guess 15% less throw for 15% better beam.Center spot is a tad bigger.

I already installed my diffuser and its fantastic.

Is this light worth $60? YES
Is this light better then most at this cost : YES ( better then most costing double or tripple).
Would I buy a S*refire instead of this light: NO

Dereelight and Wolf Eyes are my 2 favorite brands these days.

Pickey little things:
I dont care about tail stand.I wish button was longer OR end of tailcap was not concave. It would be easier to turn on ( not that its hard now).
I just prefer a button that sticks out like a S*refire Z28 whatever cap a L4 has.

I have had this for 1 day.Unless some crazy issues happen or an explosion, I love this light.

I LOVE that the LED module screws into the reflector. When Q5 or better come out you can get a low cost upgrade that pops right in.

**This is the first light I have ever owned that had clean contacts out of the box. I hit it with DEOXIT and got zero black ( dirt) off.

On my Bang-For-The-Buck-O-Meter : 10 of 10

Having owned and tested 100+ lights...if I was given this light and was asked to guess the cost....I would guess..150-250$

I will keep this light.
This light is a homerun !
If you are on the fence, pull the trigger.

My 2 cents

HUGE :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:Dereelight

Would you lean more towards the 2 stage or 5 stage? I had read on other posts the 5 stage is brighter, but requires 18650's, the 2 stage can use 123's or 18650's. Hmm.. maybe I answered my own question? :D

My 2 stage is a Q2.
Have not checked in my box yet, but both on high seem about the same.

I would lean towards 2 stage.I have little to no use for strobe or SOS.
I find High/low nice to have..more then that is useless IMO.
Other CPFers like 500 000 000 stages. I mean come on, some times
.0000000001 lumen is not quite right and maybee you want .00000001 lumen.I like bright lights, TO HELL WITH NIGHT ADAPTED VISION !!!

FASTCAR, thanks for the review,.. you tell it like it is and are always entertaining!!!

This light looks like a true winner.

Are the buttons on the tailcaps trimmed?
The reason I ask is, I absolutely prefer protruding tailswitch, so much more comfortable.
Just wondering if it can be modified.

Thanks

Fastcar - I agree with all your assessments! I really love my Dereelight CL1H 2.0. No worries with the 5-mode module, you'll get used to it and it becomes pretty intuitive.
Regarding a clicky that sticks out, the GITD rubber cover sticks out the most and is very easy to click. That's what I have on my CL1H 2.0s right now. I can even click it on the meaty part of my thumb/hand while holding the clip attachment ring (as if I were holding a pistol). Put in the GITD and you'll find it clicks much easier.
Throw is great. The only LED light I have that throws better is my SSC P4 modded SL Scorpion LED, but that's a throw light.

Just got back from night walk. This light has SERIOUS throw. If your a throw lover this light will not let you down.Even at 200'+ away you still get a round bright circle that is not that large.Like a spotlight on stage.

I tested the Q2/smooth VS an Ultrastinker. The US was on for 7-10 mins so it was not "hot off the charger".For those that have owned or played with the US its quite pointy.
The deree threw just as far.Beam is a tad more ugly if that matters.

We ran into a cop we did not know.He had a SL20x.We chatted for a min or 2.Told him we came to test lights. He wanted to battle my "little" lights with his "big" SL20x.I dont know the CP or lumens of a Sl20x..I can only say it was sad.
He was very shocked how much better the LED light was in every way.The 2+hour high /20 hour low run time was " impossible".Gave him deree web site and CPF site also.

*****Tip for any new Dereelight owner.**********
This will be odd if you do not have one on front of you.

To make this light always work correctly: Make sure head is quite lose.First tighten bezel holding LA to head.Seconds tighten head...it will not go all the way. This is normal.

Do not tighten head first and then bezel.

**This will all sound odd unless you own this light.

ORBIT: I also like a button that sticks out.

BMRSEB: Yes my 2 stage is a Q2 for sure.I asked alan if a 2 stage Q2 was possible. He said " yep"

The guy that PM me from the UK:Yes I like this light better then H*ntlight.

I received my five-mode flashlight yesterday and find it as FASTCAR described. The five stages will take a little getting used to, but I am sure I like them. I like the strobe for walking at night, it gets drivers attention to see you. Neither of my lights came with the GID buttons but I wish they had. From what jsr said they would probably make the five-modes easier to navigate. Maybe they could still be included with my latest order ????

Bright on high, VERY bright.

Just to confirm with the 5-mode unit.
To get all modes, you must use a 18650 only, and not 2 R123s'.

Don't use more than 1x Li-Ion cell on the 5-mode or it will damage the driver.

javafool - the normal black rubber cap still protrudes enough for easy clicking, but the GITD protrudes just a bit more. Both work fine tho for switching modes on the 5-mode.

Can anyone confirm (through more than speculation) that the 5 mode is equal to the 2 mode in its regulation? Answers to this would be much appreciated.

Hi, Boom Stick,
The 5 mode and 2 mode are completely different regulator, there are three difference:
1. battery: the 5 mode--> Load with 1x18650 protected or non-protected or 168a. and the 2 mode --->Load with 1x18650 protected or non-protected, 168a, 2xCR123A or 2xRCR123.

2. battery direction: On 5 mode - (negative) of battery faces tailcap, and On 2 mode, + (positive) on battery goes to tailcap

3. operating method: the 5 mode--->press and hold the switch slightly within 1 second for mode change. 20%-->50%-->100%-->strobe-->SOS--> repeat. If you find a mode you like, press to lock on.If you leave on for more then 1 second this light has "Mode memory". Next time you turn it on, it remembers the last mode., the 2 mode --->Rotate the battery tube clockwise for high output. Then you can set the output at low or high simply by rotating the battery tube.Tight is high mode, - 1/4 turn for low mode.

for details please view www.dereelight.com

Thanks.
Alan.

I got one of each module. I use the 2 mode in the CL1H and the 5 mode in a Huntlight FT01. The FT01 had it's original stock Luxeon3 module. Not only does the 5 mode blow it away for output and versatility, but it also fits better! The bottom copper cap of the module makes contact directly to the Huntlight body; the AL top makes contact with the lens retaining ring, too. So, the 5 mode has two thermal pathways for heat disappation in the FT01. The stock lux module base didn't touch the light's body; it had an outer spring for electrical contact.

So, not only did I get a great light in the CL1H, but the FT01 gets new life, too.

@DereeLight.. Is the 2 stage available in a Q2? I know FASTCAR says his 2 Stage was, is that the standard or was that a special request?

1. battery: the 5 mode--> Load with 1x18650 protected or non-protected or 168a. and the 2 mode --->Load with 1x18650 protected or non-protected, 168a, 2xCR123A or 2xRCR123.

Quick question about the batteries...for the 2 mode I can use 1x18650 or 2xRCR123's...so what is the output/runtime difference for these options? Does the 18650 provide the less output but longer runtime (since it is only 3.7V as opposed to 2xRCR123=7.4V)? Or does it provide the same output even though it is half the voltage?
