Is there any way to prevent the rubber button on the on off switch from drying out or cracking. Have'nt had this problem on a surefire, but have had this happen on other lights. Has anyone had this problem with a surefire?

Uh...I've had some lights for over 5 years and I never had a problem with drying out or cracking. But I'm sure that Surefire's lifetime warranty would take care of you if that should ever happen...and you would get a new tailcap in no time.

Never heard of it happening. The tailcap on my L4 is nearly bald, but the rubber is still flexible and shows no sign of cracking.

I've never experienced or even heard of this ever being an issue. You're the first person I've ever seen bringing up such a topic.
I wouldn't be concerned about it happening to a SureFire in the slightest.

Just curious.... Which lights do you own that have had this problem?

I've had this problem with a 2 D cell mag light and a 3 D cell mag light. Did'nt know if this was a common problem with all lights. Thanks for all the info.
