The LightHound site is working again!

OTOH, somebody please stop me... :help:
So, I get onto the the LightHound site and I'm ordering a Black L1 in a gift box for a friend serving in Iraq, plus a Silver one for me...
And I start to look around... Oh, and I need a Surefire SC3 spares carrier... Yeah! That's the ticket!
AND a new holster for my A2... ooooh, yeah baby! Now we're talking.

And...

Hi. My name is Ken. I'm a flashaholic. If I don't give anyone my address, you can't intervene <evil grin>! :naughty:

Here's a review I did a little while back on the Fenix L1 v2.5 (Non-Premium) (link with lots of side-by-side comparison beamshots).

The L1 v2.5 seems about the same (expected) brightness as my other 1 watt Luxeons - so this is good performance for a light running on a single AA alkaline battery.

According to the adverts/specs the v2.5 L1P is supposed to be 46lumens max and the v2.5 L1 is supposed to be 38lumens max
- as a speculation - I'm not using these as absolute values (unlikely) - but to get a comparison percentage -
the L1 is about 17% less bright than the L1P -
I would say this would be measurable -
but in practice - probably hardly noticable.

So a "R" bin L1 v2.5 - should in theory be as bright as a P(remium) v2.5 -
but I'm not too sure if this is really going to be that noticable.

However it should at least assure this batch of "R" bin should be among the brightest Fenix L1 v2.5 non-premiums out there.

I think the bins determine the flux or output of the light for the current -
but do not determine the tint or color?

Just placed my order--first Fenix for me! I was sorely disappointed with the River Rock lights, so I am looking forward to the Fenix. Too bad Lighthound was backordered on their lithium AA's, though...

Hi guys,

I'm wondering, where does it say the L1 has R bins? To my understanding
only the P's have Rbins.

Scroll down a little bit...

"SPECIAL!!! - Fenix has been concentrating on manufacturing the L1P flashlight, but LightHound has secured a special run of L1 Flashlights in both Black and Silver body color just before Christmas. This special run of lights features the upgraded LED that is normally used in the L1P flashlight!! Buy one quick, before they are all gone."

I just ordered 2 silver and 2 black to give as gifts!

It is mentioned on the LightHound website on the Fenix L1 page.

I have quoted the paragraph from the website, Lighthound is one website that I will believe the "hard to believe" statements.

Aahh... I see... but it doesn't specifically say R bin - we're assuming thats
what it means right?

Yes... it doesn't come out and say that they are R bins, however... If lighthound said that these use the same bin as the L1P. And the Fenix website says:

Premium Model Features:
dot.gif
Uses a 1-watt 100,000-hour R bin Luxeon LED, no need for a fragile incandescent bulb

Fenix L1 page

at 29.00 (if they do have R bin) they are a bonofide STEAL.

I ordered mine in the gift tin. That way I will feel too guilty if I keep it. Got to give it to my brother. I have enough of his gifts from me already.

Wow!

All the L1s in the "mini-box" are now sold out. The gift box sets are "on hold" pending an inventory check.

I'm glad I was able to finally get on the site and place an order.

Heh, looks like the "CPF Effect" is *real*, i've only been here a short time, but to have a light go from in stock to completely sold out in less than 12 hours, that's impressive, at least to me

is this kind of thing normal, for a popular light to sell out in less than 12 hours?
