:anyone:Fenix P3D Question?

I don't think this has been covered. I compared two P3D lights side by side and one has a white tint and the other has a slight blue tint to it. (And slightly brighter but I think that was a battery thing) Why is this? Does it mean anything? I look forward to the comments.

:thanks:

I believe it's caused by the specific led being chosen from a different 'bin' as it appears to be called on the forum. Other than that, someone more knowledgeable will have to elaborate (I'm still learning as you can tell... but I believe still it's the bin).

It used to be call the Luxeon lottery, its now called the Cree lottery.
Most of the time you will get a real good one, occasionally you will get a DuD

The same problem between P3D CE Natural finish and P3D CE Black::rant:

 Cree lottery....a different 'bin':rant::rant:

Sorry as a newbi I'm assuming by "bin" you mean just that ??
Which bin the led was taken from during production.

I have a P1DCE which has a tint more towards yellow.
On the other hand my L2DCE is blue ish, is this OK or should I be sending one back ??

to my eyes, the blue seems to appear on the edges of the spot, but the middle is a pretty nice white, i look forward to mine again. good luck. Also, i think that my eyes are tuned toward warm colours as incans have been all around me my whole life, now its so white theres a lil blue from the phos, I noticed when i shon the Cree's into objects the white was a good tint the blue was hardly noticeble. It's a trade-off, the output is astonishing, if I have to deal with a slightly 'interesting' blue tint, so be it

My P2D CE is a clinical white pure beam, while my P3D CE has a slightly warm yellow (very nice) beam but its very subtle. I never had a bad LED since my first luxeon that has a very bad purple crust around the beam

My P3D CE black is a white pure beam, while my P3D CE Natural has a slightly warm yellow.:candle:

my p2 is black, all my lights are since i love black. i think its not actually dependant on the colour body you got, i think its the "lottery" syndrome again

Sure,I agree with you, the problem is the "lottery" syndrome ,
as the led cree is not in centre, the beam is not perfect :sigh:

Yes, but "the photon shop" in the UK checks all his cree lights, so its at least a better chance of getting a good one.

I'm in contact with Italian Seller in order to solve this problem.:naughty:

No problem in the past.

QualityFlashlights too in UK, for example, has a very good customer service

Got both mine from the Photon shop, I'm not complaining they are both perfect.

What I'm asking is, is it correct that one is blueish compared to one being yellowish.

Which one is correct ?? and should I being asking for a replacement.

Hi all,Rob here from TPS.

In my experience with Cree LED lights as with Luxeon's there are variations in the tint between lights and also slight variation's in max brightness.

I have some Ultrafire Cree C2 lights here also and they too vary in tint and have very slight max brightness variations. This is normal production tolerences and nothing to worry about unless the tint is very bad or brightness poor(which it's not usually)

A slightly off centre LED does not usually affect the beam pattern so I am happy to ship these after testing but if it's badly off centre resulting in a poor beam then these are not sold to TPS customers.

Hope this helps

Regards to you all

Rob
