I would like to take the insides out of these so I can replace the electronics with better stuff. I would prefer to do it without damaging them.

The bezel of the one on the right unscrewed easily enough, and I am guessing other will do the same, but I don't understand how to remove the inside parts? Any help is appreciated.

Vesture, those bezels have 3 parts. You've just unscrewed the top part. You'll need to unscrew the bottom part as well. You'll end up with a central heatsink (where the LED sits) and the top and bottom sections.

The newer bezel will likely need some heat applied to it to losen the potting compound. You might need strap wrenches...

Look for a thread started by grnamin... something like "KL1-R owners report here" or something like that. There's tons of pictures and how-to's there.

I'm glad you came through . I don't have any experience disassembling Surefires, but I was going to try and figure it out:D.
