After a 5 week wait, I received my C LiIon charger from LITEmania. Nicely wrapped, easy to put together, and couldn't be simpler to operate.

The only thing that concerns me is that when I pull the cells out of the charger, they are only 4.16V. When they cool a little, that drops to 4.14V (measured after 30 minutes).

Do you think I am losing much capacity? I could top them up to 4.2V on my modified Ultrafire WF-139 I suppose, but I wish LITEmania's charger would do that for me.

If it doesn't charge quite to full capacity, I still think it was a good purchase for me. It charges at 1.5A, which is about three times faster than the WF-139 - so it is great for the larger capacity C, and also D with a couple of crocodile clips!

Should I be bothered with only getting 4.16V?

Cheers.

You are only losing ~5% of capacity, so I wouldn't worry. And only charging to 4.16V will mean you get better life (more cycles) out of your cells.

Just another thought - if you are using 3x C-cells to run a WA 1185 (Mag85 or equivalent), the slightly lower voltage will actually be a good thing, as there will be much less risk of instaflashing the bulb.

When I've managed to put them together, the C LiIons will be used in an MC-E 2C Mag, and a P7 2C Mag.

I'm not going to lose any sleep over a 5% loss in capacity. They aren't protected cells, so I guess cutting off at 4.16V is a good thing.

Thanks for your replies. Much appreciated.
