A little background first:

I manage the nightcrews for several large thoroughbred farms. We make our living by artifical light and use a variety of lights throughout the night. These lights get used for 12hrs a night, 365 days a year, in rain, snow, heat, cold, dropped, smashed, On-off-on-off you name it.

For the last 10 years, our spotlight of choice has been one of Havis Shields models, either the CD Magnum or the Pulsar 750. I've tried a few HID models such as the Xeray 35w HID and the AE 25w(?)HID. We love the output of the HID lights, but the lights didn't like the on-off nature of thier job. We save them for special purposes now.

I am looking to buy some replacements for some of the older lights and was wondering if there is anything new out there that is up to the task.

My Needs are:

1.Extreme durability

2.Throw and more throw

3.12 volt- most of the guys don't like rechargeables for this task, but the option is good.

4.$200-$300 range. The Havis models aren't cheap, but they have paid for themselves MANY times over.

Thanks so much.
