Hi guys !

I found a nice little easteregg with the LS20.
It has a hidden SOS mode ... NOT

But ... look:

The LS20 head scres on the McLuxIII-T body :D !!!!

Yeah right, but so what? A lot of McLuxIII heads screw on that body. But look:

Low mode:

And HIGH MODE !!!

Finally another head that makes use of this fine and elusive body.

For those younger ones who do not know what the T-body is ... it is the body of the very first McLuxIII titanium light Don sold ... a twisty-only without the piston drive.
It is shorter and hass less weight and no momentary.

The rear looks like this:

I'd say ... COOOOOL. For those few who have one, that is. Only about 35 McLuxIII-T lights have been sold.

EDIT: does not work with all LS20 heads it seems. Sorry !!

Wow that's neat! I'd use that setup if I had the components for it.

Re: LS20 Easter egg !!

I may be wrong here....I thought I had tried this combination out before the "T" made move to it's new home... Now that Bernie has pointed out that the 27 doesn't work with his Lunasol 27 Head I am questioning my own memory of the Mcgizmo Lego play I did reciently... Sorry If I led you down a path. Maybe somebody who still has the two lights together can try it out to confirm Bernie's findings....

In a word YES.
The T is a very cool body. It is a piece of functional art..as are all of these titanium wonders which Don has thrust upon us.
Nobody noticed this before But I found a real Easter egg in the Lunasol 20.
My lunasol 20 when turned just right will light up only the center golden dragon emitter.
Don't ask me how this happens it is not reliable in fact I can't do it anymore but when I first received the light a week or so ago I noticed this effect when I was screwing the head onto the body. It would flash. I then backed the head up and the center beam would illuminate. flicker a bit with a little work moving the head one way or the other by a couple of MM I could get it to stay lit and not flicker.

IMHO this would be a cool mode (a third Mode) for the Lunasol. I suspect that it could be done with a second Kilroy bent to touch ground in a different position than the other allowing a path to power just one set of emitters or the other. OK OK call me crazy but I saw it and not is was not an intentional mode of this light but it leads me to believe that this may be possible. and that is a good thing. If it isn't I am perfectly happy with what the Lunasol does just like it is.

Does the LS27 head work on that sexy body as well sir?

I would assume (as I am a buyer, not a creator) that by adding a second kilroy some how, and allowing only the throw LED to illuminate, would add to additional runtime? (such as in a situation not requiring flood, but throw?)

You can assume what ever you want. At the moment the whole concept is complete not even vapor. The only persons I know of who may be qualified to comment on wether or not this is even possible are Don and dat2zip since dat2zip designed the drivers he may be the best bet. I have no idea if it is possible. I do think it would be cool. I doubt any energy will be expended to figuring this out since the market is really too small. As a mod Maybe Don could look at it but i have a feeling that the reality is that it would be complicated and the only thing this would yeild is a third mode. the Dragon only mode. If this emitter was the only one on it would certainly yeild longer runtimes. This may be the one avenue of interest for Don since he has made modifications designed to extend the runtime of lights the MIZER mod comes to mind. Far be it for me to predict another persons interests.

Mine does not, but apparently others do. Might have something to do with the fact that mine is an "early release candidate".

easy ... yes. The RedEye is in fact my preferred light right now. I use it and take it with me whenever I can.
Unfortunately my pics can't capture the gem-like beauty of the reflector set-up, and the power this little thing has is astonishing, as is color rendition.

Bernie,

I thought "T" heads wouldn't fit on PD bodies? If that's the case, and the LS20 head fits on a PD body, then why does it also fit on a "T" body?

I'm confused.

js,
the "T-head" fits on other McLuxIII bodies including the PD-Pack.
The other direction is problematic. All other McLuxIII heads (classic PD, XR19, S27, ...) won't work with the T-body. They screw down just enough to light the low mode, but high mode won't engage. A lot of people wanted the "T-option" for the other heads as it is lighter, shorter and has one less entry point for water.

Now we have that possibility with the LS20 head and, as it seems, the LS27 head.

What can I say guys. The T pak was the first venture into Ti and the shoulder where Kilroy and the contact ring make contact is too deep into the pak in many cases. Not with the heads that came with it, but after that. It's a long story and not worth trying to recall properly. My bad.

Its all your fault!

No big deal really. :)

Of course there's an easy way to fix this. Just do new run of lights with a PD-friendly T-pak.

(hey, you can't blame me for trying. :D )

Sorry PSM !

I edited in a comment about this in the first post, so that no one can say they purchased an expensive McLuxIII-T because of me and then sue me :D
