Have any of you guys seen the 3 1/2 inch reflector HID light they are selling at armondo tech? It is going for $150 which seems to me to be a pretty good deal.
I posted a link to it over on the deals forum in the marketplace.
I am a little unclear about the rules This might be considered cross posting..If I am please do not hesitate to close this thread.
Anyway it looks very cool.

It has a little led flashlight built in to the handle.
For the scale of it the reflector is 3.5 inches.
it used a NIMH battery and they claim 70 minutes run time.
Cool

It was designed by a fellow CPFer and if you search N30 you will find a ton of info on it and tests and beam shots and actually videos.

Bottom line: yeah its awesome.

Mofo, I can't believe you haven't seen this over the past few months in numerous threads? :nana:

I don't make it over to this part of the world very often. I am still loving my costco HID. this little thing looks pretty cool. Is the $150 price a good price for it? Was there a group buy?
Anywa sorr to bring this up since it has been rehashed man times here.
Oh well. You (Well I) learn somthing new every day.

There was no group buy (but a large group bought it :) )

150 is outstanding value for what you get. Right now the Sam's HID light is a better deal at around $60 but its size and weight compared to the N30 puts it in a different class.

Also the Sam's is a closeout and not regular production.

I would respectfully disagree that the Sam's club is the better buy. And, of course, alot depends on how you're going to use it. The Sam's with it's 6000K lamp, for me anyway, it much to purple. My AmondoTech Illuminator (same as Sam's) even with it's 4200K lamp, while having better color, is still too big for frequent - hand carry use. The N30 is perfect for most everything I need a light for. Hand-held or stationary, it's a great tool.

I paid 47 shipped for the Sam's light. I don't see how it cannot be termed a better buy.

I'm not referencing just dollars spent. I bought the AI (Sam's with 4200K lamp) and I bought the N30. I don't use the AI because I use the N30 all the time. Hense, the N30 was the better buy. A cheap ($) light that is not used is not a good buy.

My original statement was "better deal" you changed it to "better buy" and I went with your term. If you contend that "better buy" does not take money into consideration thats fine but when I used the term "better deal" I specifically mentioned what the light cost so I thought thats the definition you were using.

I think the advantages of the N30 are not worth 3 times the price of the sams light.

Ahhh, we weren't communicating! The root of most problems.

I think the advantages of the N30 are definitely worth three times the price. That should be very clear.

The N30 is a great light. Once I get it waterproofed, it will be an excellent light. A very practical HID and just the right weight and balance for its size.

You could be enjoyig the N30 for quite some time before the
L35 is out. The factory has been waiting for my weather proofing
instructions too. Life & work challenges held me up for a
couple of months. Just In case you missed one of my earlier
announcements, there will be no L35 in 2007. For more details, read some of my more recent posts in the N30 announcement thread.

Take Care,
