So new that I don't even have one yet.

So far, I've been concentrating on LED lights and have previously only needed high powered LED lights that flood more than throw. I was thinking of a P7 that might throw well enough, but nothing that can compare to a HID and I'm guessing I need something that can throw as well to add to my collection.

I have several high powered LED lights (quad p7s, tri mces, kong 12, etc) and I am slowly becoming quite interested in HID lights.

Haven't been able to figure out which one I should get first, the polarion helios, oracle ones, or the tactical ones which are alot cheaper, etc. I'm not from the States so getting the light back for repairs all the time wouldn't be something easy. So a light that's built well, and doesn't get problematic would be ideal.

When it comes to the beam, I'm looking for something with very good throw and a nice side spill of flood. I have enough lights that'll flood so more towards throw but I'm not interested in something that has a rounded spot beam only. I'm looking for something powerful, and something bright. I have no specific application for it.

Concerning style, I'm not particular. It could be shaped like the Maxabeam, or the many other HID lights I've seen around this forum that has huge battery packs. As long as it's not wired to a push stand, etc. I've seen alot of modded HID lights but I'm not up to the standard of doing anything like that for myself yet I think.

I think there's no HID lights here that'll last more than 110 minutes, etc? So I was wondering if I could purchase something that has a minimum runtime of 90-110 minutes and wouldn't take forever to charge.

And lastly, I have no idea about the colour temp of the bulb. Something whitesh, yellowish would be great.

I'd appreciate any help I can get on this. I've read a few of the threads with the beam comparions but most were modded lights.

Oh, and budget. I'm not too particular here. Anything from $200-3000 I'm guessing. I'd appreciate any suggestions to get a newbie started.

Thank you.

Thanks for posting a full listing of parameters since that really helps when answering.

With a price range like that it would be a "no brainer" for me. I would purchase the Polarion X1 hand's down. It's compact, lightweight, all metal body, 40W, uses the most efficient reflector made (next to NASA), ergonomic, magnetic switch, waterproof, 4300K color temp, li-ion battery with excellent balancing circuit. The only place it comes up short is in the run-time but the since it's a magazine style battery, you can just drop in another one when the first battery runs out.

For the sake of keeping things simple, I'm not going to bother listing 5 different options since the X1 is within your price range. I will mention that the L50 will be release soon from Battery Junction. It will likely cost far less than X1 and give up serveral features but you can bet it will be a great light at an excellent price.

Thank you Patriot.

I'll check the links out. Would the X1 be of better value compared to the Pseries? The specs seem pretty similar.

Yes it would be, particularly now with their current product line. The PH50 is no longer produced and the PH45 production schedule is yet undetermined. The X1 is nearly same performance spec as the PH series but in a smaller size and a better price. The only place that I know of where the specs may vary, is with regards to the depth rating. I think the PH is 300' and the X1 is 200'. I don't know that for an absolute fact but the point is, they're both very waterproof.

On the 4sevens web link that I gave you, the X1 run-time is listed at 90 minutes which is incorrect. That was the run-time for the 35W X1. Instead, I would estimate 70-75 minutes run per battery for the 40W version.

Very nice. Depth rating isn't going to be too important to me.

70-75 minutes is still pretty decent. I suppose I could always get an extra battery pack or two.

I was wondering how bright the Titanium would be over the Polarion X1.

About 1000-1200 lumens or so. When it comes to this stuff nothing is exact due to variation. The choice is yours but I wouldn't get too caught up on lumen output but instead pick for the other features that appeal to you. At the level of lights your looking at you won't be disappointed either way.

As a CPF member you get a discount from 4sevens too. Take about $145 of the cost.
